摘要:
A compensating advanced feature patch panel that can include removable modular or fixed electronic components located directly on the patch panel which are separately or in combination capable of providing advanced features such as device detection and power insertion. The patch panel provides communications between an insulation displacement connector (IDC) at a PD/User end, and any standard interface type using unshielded twisted pair cables, such as an RJ45 connector at a switch end at performance levels of at least category 3, 5, 6 e, 6 and/or higher (e.g. 6 e or 7) and equivalent performance levels by compensating for the active electronics used in providing advanced features. Compensation is achieved in part through the separation and isolation of active and communication circuit elements.

A strain relief connector, including an optical fiber, a cover enclosing the optical fiber. The cover has an inner surface, an outer surface, a first end and a second end, the first end having a tapered portion that extends radially outwardly. A sleeve surrounds the cover and has a first inner volume and a first interior shoulder, a portion of the outer surface of the tapered portion abuts the first interior shoulder. The sleeve and the cover are simultaneously compressed forming a compressed portion. The cover and the sleeve are deformed such that the cover substantially fills the first inner volume of the sleeve.

A strain relief connector for a fiber optic cable has an optical fiber enclosed within a cover having an outer diameter. A relatively long sleeve surrounds the cover and has an inner surface at an inner diameter, the inner diameter being substantially larger than the outer diameter of the cover. Portions of the sleeve and the fiber optic cable are compressed by a die, forming compressed portions having widths substantially larger than their heights and causing the inner surface of the sleeve to frictionally engage the outer surface of the cover layer and the inner surface of the cover to fictionally engage the outer surface of the optical fiber enclosed therein. The length of the sleeve and the configuration of the compressed portion allow a relatively high area of frictional resistance between the buffer layer and the sleeve.

A wiring unit for an electrical connector having a housing with a first side and an opposing second side, an attaching portion on the second side and a latching portion adjacent the attaching portion. The latching portion couples the wiring unit to a standard support. Electrical wiring terminals are coupled to the housing and can receive electrical wires. A stuffer cap is selectively coupled to the terminals and the attaching portion. When the stuffer cap is coupled to the attachment portion, attachment of the electrical wires to the terminals using an impact tool can be accomplished without damaging the latching portion since the stuffer cap spaces the latching portion from the support surface when the wires are forced into the terminals. When the stuffer cap is coupled to the terminals, the stuffer cap eliminates or substantially reduces oxidation or corrosion on the terminals and wires.

A channel for managing equipment cables that includes opposing first and second members and a third member extending between and connecting the first and second members. Each of the first and second members includes first and second inner and outer surfaces. At least one cable receiving area is defined between the first and second inner surfaces of the first and second members. First and second equipment mounting elements extend from each of the first and second outer surfaces of the first and second members. The first and second equipment mounting elements are connectable to equipment. A base support is coupled to at least one of the first and second members.

An electrical connector is provided that protects the electrical connector and associated components from harsh mechanical, electrical and environmental requirements. A jack is received by a jack housing, and a plug is received by a plug housing. The jack is adapted to receive the plug. A first seal member is positioned between the plug housing and the jack housing to form a seal therebetween when the jack and the plug are connected. A coupling member is attached to the plug housing and is adapted to receive the jack housing. A spring member is positioned between the coupling member and the plug housing to compress the first seal member between the jack housing and the plug housing.

An electrical connector assembly includes a jack and a plug. The jack has a cavity for receiving the plug, a stop member and latch stop. The plug has a plug body and a resilient latch arm with an arm and an abutment. The latch stop is spaced from the stop member by a jack nominal dimension within a jack tolerance. The plug has a free end spaced from the arm abutment by a plug nominal dimension within a plug tolerance. The difference between the jack nominal dimension and the plug nominal dimension is not greater than the sum of the jack tolerance and the plug tolerance.
