摘要： A vehicle includes a sensor sensing external temperature, a 2WD/4WD switch operated to input an instruction to switch a two-wheel drive state and a four-wheel drive state, a transfer switching mechanical power transfer for the two-wheel drive state and that for the four-wheel drive state, an actuator actuating the transfer, and an ECU controlling the actuator. The ECU determines from a value detected by the sensor a current supplied to the actuator. Preferably, the transfer includes a synchronizer mechanism driven by power generated by the actuator to transfer a drive shaft's rotation to a driven shaft and engage the shafts together when they achieve synchronous rotation.

摘要： A vehicle planetary gear device includes a ring gear, a sun gear, and a carrier, and pinions housed in the carrier. A penetration hole formed in a hollow cylindrical portion of the carrier has two inner wall surfaces that face an outer peripheral surface of a pinion. One of the inner wall surfaces has a curvature radius larger than the radius of the pinion, and has a curvature center that is apart from the radius center of the pinion gear. The pinion is disposed with respect to the carrier with a predetermined space formed between the one of the inner wall surfaces and the outer peripheral surface of the pinion, and thereby slides along a radial direction of the carrier.

摘要： A transmitting torque limiting apparatus, used in a power transmitting apparatus, includes side gears (40) and side gears piece (42) one of which are axially shiftable. The side gears (40) and the side gear pieces (42) respectively have first engaging teeth (60a) and second engaging teeth (60b) each being provided with a pressure angle (Alpha). Due to such pressure angle, when an excessive torque is inputted into the power transmitting apparatus, a thrust force (F1) is generated for disengaging the engagement between the first engaging teeth (60a) and second engaging teeth (60b). Thus, inputting of the excessive torque into the power transmitting apparatus can be limited.

The ECU instructs the actuator to switch from the four-wheel driving state to the two-wheel driving state regardless of the switching instruction from the 2WD/4WD switch if the vehicle tows a trailer and runs in the four-wheel driving state when the vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined value. Consequently, it is possible to provide a four-wheel drive vehicle capable of running while towing an object and also avoiding an increase in the size of the peripheral parts of driving wheels.

Also, at least a pair of planetary gears are received in the housing in parallel relation with the sun gears. A window opening for introducing lubricating oil is formed in the housing. Also, a fin for guiding the lubricating oil toward the window opening is formed on the outer surface of the housing.
