    摘要: Hand held vacuum cleaning apparatus (100) includes an elongate housing (122) which is cylindrical in shape. The housing (122) defines an inlet opening (108), an interior (124) and an exhaust opening (118). The housing (122) further defines, within the interior (124), a receptacle receiving chamber (112) in which, in use, a removable dust retaining receptacle (115) is located. The receptacle receiving chamber (112) is substantially circular in cross section and comprises substantially the whole of the diameter of the interior (124) in cross section. The apparatus (100) includes a flow inducer (117) located in the interior (124). In use, the flow inducer (117) induces air flow from the inlet opening (108), through the receptacle (115) in the chamber (112), through the flow inducer (117) to the exhaust opening (118).

    摘要: A synchronous dynamometer assembly for applying a load to an engine during at least one portion of the combustion cycle of the engine in a synchronised manner so as to be repeatable each cycle of the engine comprises a dynamometer having a non-inductive load which is applied to the engine during operation to vary the speed of the engine. The non-inductive load is variable by varying the current delivered to it. Crankshaft monitoring means monitors the rotational position of the engine crankshaft, and combustion detection means detects a combustion event in a cylinder of the engine. Control means is operatively connected to the dynamometer for applying the load from the dynamometer to the engine for at least one part of the combustion cycle in real time such that the different loads may be applied to the engine for different parts of the combustion cycle.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a tubular component including rough machining the exterior surface of a solid billet 1 to reduce the size thereof and form two flanges. An axial blind bore 6 is then machined in the billet 1, after which a probing operation is carried out on the interior surface of the bore 6 in order to check the concentricity. A straightening operation is then performed on the billet in order to reverse any curvature along the longitudinal axis. A further machining operation is then performed on the outside to reduce the wall thickness of the bore before measuring the wall thickness of the bore 6 around the circumference of the billet 1 at least at two different axial positions. The billet 1 is then checked again and a final machining operation is then performed in order to form any ports and upstands which are required.
