摘要: Disclosed are methods and apparatus to control data and command flow over a physical communications channel between a transmitter and a receiver, and more specifically to provide a protocol for a point-to-point serial bus architecture with low latency time for flow control and other signaling, regardless of the length of the data packet frame. The abstract data flow control protocol can be employed by various buses as it interacts only with the lowest protocol layers. Separate buffers for data and control can be used to allow the bus to be compatible with slower buses also to support additional control functions without involving a higher protocol layer.

摘要: A communication link for communicating data between a first opto-electronic equipment capable of providing an optical signal and a second opto-electronic equipment capable of receiving the optical signal is described. The communication link includes a first optical channel and a second channel. The first optical channel is preferably a high-speed optical channel for conveying information requiring high-speed connection and the second channel is preferably a slow channel providing, for example a low-power monitoring function. An opto-mechanical device for providing a communication link, including a first opto-electronic equipment for providing an optical signal, a second opto-electronic equipment for receiving the optical signal, a first optical channel and a second channel is also described.

摘要: A method for displaying data on a portable electronic device first displays graphical data on a graphical display. An event that is independent of the graphical data is received at the device. Responsive to the event, an event type is selected from a list that associates each of at least two event types with one of at least two display formats. A notifier of the event, in the selected format, is then displayed on the graphical display simultaneously with the graphical data. The formats are specific to the event types so that a user can decide whether to continue viewing the graphical data and not respond to the event notifier, or terminate the graphical data being displayed and respond to the event. Examples of events include an alarm from a locally stored user calendar, an incoming phone call, an SMS message, and an email. A computer program and a device are also detailed.

摘要: Disclosed are a method and a system that operates in accordance with the method to set up a TCP session between a MS and an end point destination via a wireless network and the Internet. The method includes sending a split TCP connection request from the MS to a PEP located in the network, where the split TCP request includes information for identifying a network address of the MS and a network address of the end point destination. The method further includes, in response to receiving the split TCP connection request from the MS, establishing a split TCP connection that includes a wireless TCP (WTCP) connection between the MS and the PEP, and a TCP connection at least part way between the PEP and the end point destination. In one embodiment the end point destination is an application server that is coupled to the Internet, and the TCP connection is established between the PEP and the application server. In another embodiment the end point destination is a second MS that is coupled to a second PEP in a second wireless network, and the TCP connection is established at least as far as the second PEP, and then as a WTCP connection from the second PEP to the second MS.

The receiver is operable to obtain time, carrier frequency and cell-specific preamble synchronization to the received signal and includes a plurality of synchronization units that include a first detector to detect a frame boundary using preamble delay correlation; a second detector to detect the frame boundary with greater precision using a conjugate symmetry property over a region identified by the first detector; a cyclic prefix correlator to resolve symbol boundary repetition; an estimator, using the cyclic prefix, to estimate and correct a fractional carrier frequency offset; an operator to perform a Fast Fourier Transform of an identified preamble symbol and a frequency domain cross-correlator to identify cell-specific preamble sequences and an integer frequency offset in sub-carrier spacing. The transmitted signal may be a downlink signal transmitted into the cell from a base station that is compatible with IEEE 802.16e (WiMAX).
