摘要: The present disclosure describes an apparatus, and method of operation for an axial coupling that includes a shift linkage having a first end and a second end, the shift linkage configured to pivot between a first position and a second position. The axial coupling further includes a first solenoid affixed to the first end of the shift linkage, and actuating the first solenoid pivots the shift linkage between the first and second positions. A latch is configured to engage with the shift linkage retaining the shift linkage in the first position when engaged and a second solenoid positioned to contact the latch, that when energized, pivots the latch into and maintain the latch in an engaged position.

A pivot is between the forked end and the control end. A cam is configured to interact with the control end of the forked linkage. The cam includes a profile that defines an axial position of the spline coupling relative to an angular position of the cam. A bias biases the control end towards the cam.

摘要: A drive spline defines an inner profile configured to receive and mate with a drive axle and an outer profile configured to mate with a wheel hub. A cage surrounds and is engaged with the outer profile of the drive spline. The cage retains the drive spline axially and radially in position relative to the outer profile. A cap is coupled to an end of the wheel hub connecting device opposite the drive spline. The cap encloses the end of the hub connecting device.

In one example, a method may comprise: in response to a desired shift from a four-wheel drive mode to a two wheel-drive mode: decreasing a transfer case torque output to a secondary driveline to a lower first level and disengaging a disconnect device of the secondary driveline; increasing the transfer case torque output from the lower first level to a higher second level over a duration; and after the duration, reducing the transfer case torque.
