摘要: An apparatus includes a housing configured to be implanted on or within a recipient, a cannula at least partially within the housing, and a plurality of flow controllers on or within the housing and in mechanical communication with corresponding portions of the cannula. The plurality of flow controllers is configured to control flow of a material through the portions of the cannula. Each flow controller of the plurality of flow controllers includes a phase-change material configured to, in response to heat, change from a first phase to a second phase and at least one heat source in thermal communication with the phase-change material. The at least one heat source is configured to receive energy from a device external to the recipient and to transmit heat to the phase-change material.

摘要: A cochlear implant hearing aid system is disclosed. The system comprises an external unit configured to receive acoustic sound and process the acoustic sound into a coded audio signal, and an implantable unit configured to receive the coded audio signal. Further, the external unit comprises a power supply unit connected via a first path to a switching unit, wherein the switching unit is connected via a second path to ground and is connected at an output thereof to a first coil. Furthermore, the switching unit is configured to operate as a switching element configured to switch between switching states, wherein the switching states include a first state for applying and a second state for not applying a current to the first coil. The coded audio signal is supplied to the switching unit as a control signal, and the first coil is inductively linked to a second coil arranged in the implantable unit. The system further comprises a measuring unit connected to at least one of the first and second paths and configured to measure a dissipative current occurring in relation to the switching states of the switching unit. Based on the at least one measured dissipative current, a resonance frequency of the inductive link between the first and second coils is adapted.

摘要: Presented herein are dual-function surgical tools for insertion of implantable stimulating assemblies, such as intra-cochlear stimulating assemblies. In addition to facilitating intra-operative positioning of a stimulating assembly within a recipient (e.g., operating to guide the stimulating assembly of an implantable medical device into position), the surgical tool also includes a plurality of electrodes configured to apply an electroporation electrical field to a recipient's nerve cells to enable introduction of treatment substance into the nerve cells.

摘要: An apparatus configured to be implanted within a portion of a recipient's body includes a fixation element having a socket and a transducer configured to be received by the socket. The transducer includes a first end portion configured to transmit signals to and/or receive signals from a target portion of the recipient's body. The transducer further includes a second end portion opposite to the first end portion, the first and second end portions spaced from one another along a center longitudinal axis of the transducer. The transducer further includes a surface at the first end portion or between the first and second end portions, the surface configured to be in mechanical communication with the socket with the center longitudinal axis of the transducer extending through the socket. The transducer is configured to be rotated such that an angular orientation of the center longitudinal axis relative to the socket is controllably adjusted.
