    摘要: A device for transmitting a distress signal is provided which includes: an impact surface; a power supply for generating electrical energy resulting from an impact force applied to the impact surface; and a transmitter powered by the power supply for transmitter the distress signal. The distress signal can be an RF signal, which can be polarized. The power supply can include one or more piezoelectric generators, at least one capacitor in which the electrical energy generated by the piezoelectric generators is stored and/or an electronics component for regulating a generated voltage and for charging the capacitors. The device can also include a GPS receiver for receiving position data and providing such position data to the transmitter for inclusion into the distress signal.

    摘要: An exemplary wheeled footwear with a spring suspension system is provided. In one embodiment, the footwear includes an upper, a midsole positioned in a midsole region, and an outsole. The spring suspension system is positioned in the midsole region of the footwear, and includes plurality of spring members, each having a first end and a second end, a top layer operable to support at least a portion of the plurality of spring members at the first end, and a bottom layer operable to support at least a portion of the plurality of spring members at the second end. The bottom layer may include an opening or openings formed in the bottom layer that may receive at least a portion of a wheel or wheels that may be positioned below the top layer and operable for rolling.

    摘要: A shoe sole construction which features an outer sole (18) having at least one opening (26) through which a protrusion (30) of a less dense midsole (16) extends. The cutout area (26) of the more dense outsole (18) decreases the overall weight of the sole (12), while the less dense protrusion (30) aids in cushioning the foot to provide greater comfort and support. Other protrusions (32 and 68) may also be provided through other openings in the outsole to further lessen weight and increase the cushioning effect on the foot. Additionally, grooves (42) may be provided on the upper surface (40) of the midsole (16) to increase flexibility of the sole (12) and further aid in cushioning the foot and providing peripheral support were needed. The invention may be applied to athletic shoes (FIGS. 1-9), a woman's high-heeled shoe (FIGS. 10-14), or other footwear.
