Abstract:
A method and arrangement for enabling access to a home device in a private network from a remote device located outside the private network. The private network includes a multimedia gateway connected to a multimedia service network. A session invite message is sent from the remote device to the multimedia gateway. In response, connection parameters of a residential gateway in the private network are sent to the remote device, which are associated with the selected home device if a home device identification was included in the received message, or with a proxy function in the multimedia gateway capable of providing home device information, if no such identification was included in the received message. In this way, home devices in the private network can be easily and safely accessed remotely.
Abstract:
A method and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) gateway for establishing a unicast media session between a media receiver and a media source in an IMS network via a Network Address Translation (NAT) function acting on behalf of the media receiver. A media source controller in the IMS sends a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) INVITE message to the media receiver to identify the media source. The media receiver obtains NAT bindings for the unicast media session, and the session is established between the media receiver and the media source.
Abstract:
A method of bridging radio communication networks having incompatible transmission protocols. Network radios each configured for the protocol of an associated network are provided. An audio terminal of each radio outputs analog audio signals that the radio detects over its network, and a microphone terminal of the radio inputs analog audio signals for transmission over the network. The signals from the audio terminal of a given network radio are converted into digital audio signals and input to a selected port of a server that implements a PBX application for bridging the networks selectively with one another. The digital audio signals input to the selected port are converted into corresponding analog audio signals and applied to the microphone terminal of each network radio with which the given network radio is to be bridged. Telephone devices having access to a PSTN can also be bridged with a network by the PBX application.
Abstract:
An apparatus including an operation manager for an Internet Protocol (IP) telephony system. The operation manager is configured to identify a gateway which is associated with a system fault, and determine an impact of the system fault on the IP telephony system, or on an external network that is interfaced to the IP telephony system by the gateway. The impact of the system fault may be determined according to a dial pattern associated with a call routed to the gateway.
Abstract:
A Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) cable modem system is coupled to: i) via a local area internet protocol (IP) network, a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) device operating Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for signaling a VoIP media session; and ii) via a DOCSIS network, a cable modem termination system (CMTS) via a network. The cable modem system comprises instructions stored in a memory and executed by a processor. The instructions comprise: i) in response to receiving a frame via the local area IP network, determining if the frame is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) invite message signaling a VoIP session with a remote endpoint; and ii) in response to determining that the frame is a SIP invite message, generating a DOCSIS message to the CMTS to request an addition of reserved bandwidth on the DOCSIS network for the VoIP session.
Abstract:
A system may provide trust relationship information for a telephone number, where the trust relationship information may indicate whether one or more nodes consider a target node as including or as being associated with a VoIP call agent for the telephone number based on demonstrated knowledge of a PSTN call. The system may determine a target trust relationship to the target node based on the trust relationship information, where the target trust relationship indicates a level of trust a validating node has in the target node being associated with or including the VoIP call agent for the telephone number, and where validating node and the one or more nodes may be in different respective administrative domains of a network.
Abstract:
A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.
Abstract:
A system for and method of efficient interoperability assessment based on automated Behavioral Profiling and Emulation of SIP or T.38 Fax-relay Enabled Devices, for example, for profiling and emulating VoIP Phones such as SIP Phones, or T.38 Fax-relay devices such as Internet Aware Fax Terminals. The method includes a Multi-step/Multi-technology Iterative Profiling Stage that allows creating a Behavioral Profile based on the analysis of a plurality of traffic samples. Also, the method presents an efficient process of Device Emulation of an actual device to be used in interoperability assessment, including a Standard State Machine parameterized by a set of characteristics stored in the Behavioral Profile. The Emulation method can be used to duplicate one or more device behaviors exhibited either by different firmware revisions, software upgrades or by different OEM product models.
Abstract:
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a set top box having a controller to select a portion of content servers among a plurality of content servers for delivery of media content to the set top box, where the selection is based on server metrics associated with the plurality of content servers and received by the set top box. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide an information providing method, a home gateway, and a home network system. The method includes: obtaining an IPv6 address or an IPv6 prefix of a client and a service type of the client; establishing a mapping between the IPv6 address or the IPv6 prefix of the client and the service type of the client; sending the mapping between the IPv6 address or the IPv6 prefix of the client and the service type of the client to a Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS), so that the BRAS dispatches and manages a service of the client according to the mapping between the IPv6 address or the IPv6 prefix of the client and the service type of the client.
