摘要: A system and method for primary switch election in peer groups includes a switch. The switch includes a control unit, first ports coupling the switch to a peer switch via first network links forming an inter-chassis link (ICL), and second ports coupling the switch to a plurality of first switches using a plurality of second network links. The second network links are part of a plurality of virtual link trunking (VLT) link aggregation groups (LAGs) wherein each of the VLT LAGs is associated with a respective one of the first switches. The control unit is configured to exchange dynamic election criteria with the peer switch, determine whether the switch is a primary or a secondary switch based on the exchanged dynamic election criteria, determine whether the ICL is down, and shut down the second network links when the ICL is down and the switch is the secondary switch.

摘要: A system and method for electing a master switch includes a management port for coupling a first switch to a management system, a plurality of stacking ports for coupling the first switch to other switches in a stacked switch, and a control unit. The control unit detects one or more first connectivity settings of the management port, exchanges the first connectivity settings with the other switches using at least one of the stacking ports, exchanges second connectivity settings for the other switches using the stacking ports, and elects a master switch for the stacked switch based on the first and second connectivity settings. In some embodiments, the control unit further receives a first management configuration from the management system, exchanges the first management configuration with the other switches, exchanges second management configurations of the other switches, and further elects the master switch based on the first and second management configurations.

The method provided creates, by an exchange server, a total inventory of resources for auction, whereby the total inventory of resources for auction includes resources from at least one provider. The total inventory of resources for auction is broadcast to at least one bidder. The amount of a resource is awarded to the at least one bidder at an end of a bidding interval, based on a bid provided by the at least one bidder during the bidding interval, where the amount of the resource is a portion of the total inventory of resources for auction.

摘要: An apparatus and method for Internet Protocol (IP) transit is described. Embodiments include a platform for routing IP traffic in real time from at least one network user to a plurality of internet links. Embodiments further include assigning different ranks to different internet links based on network monitoring. In one embodiment, a system for routing internet traffic includes an internet route optimizer to generate routing instructions for incoming data packets using financial costs of routing data packets on the internet links, the traffic condition information corresponding to the internet links, and the types of data of the incoming data packets. In another embodiment, a method to generate a routing instruction to route an internet data packet uses financial costs of routing data packets on the internet links serving the end destination, traffic condition information of the internet links serving the end destination, and the type of data of the incoming data packet.

摘要: A method for network controller initialization that includes identifying a controller connected to a network as a primary controller that manages switches in the network. One or more other controllers connected to the network are identified as secondary controllers. A failover priority table is created. The failover table indicates an order that the one or more other controllers will replace the controller as the primary controller in the event that the controller enters a failure mode. The failover priority table is broadcast to the switches in the network.

The method further includes determining that no node existing in a previous federation already has a quorum of valid global tickets.
