    摘要: A fuel tank venting system for a boat (10) includes a fuel tank (12) the interior of which is open to a filler tube (14) and a vent line (18). A liquid separation and recovery device (20) is connected to the vent line and an outlet line (28) which is open to atmosphere. Vapor delivered to the device through the vent line enters an inlet (24) and passes through an opening (64). The vapor then passes through a screen (86), around a sphere (82) that is buoyant in the liquid fuel, and escapes from the device through an outlet (26). When liquid fuel enters the device, the sphere rises blocking flow to the outlet. The trapped liquid passes through an opening (48) into a cavity (42). The liquid entering the cavity displaces a spring loaded piston (56). When liquid is no longer being delivered to the cavity, the piston pushes the liquid back out the inlet and down the vent line to the fuel tank. In excess pressure situations, when liquid is being delivered to the device, a movable member (66) is displaced upward opening a flow path to the outlet of the device through a second chamber (62). Once the over-pressure condition has subsided, the movable member returns to its original condition to prevent the passage of liquid through the device.

    摘要: A device for separating dissolved or entrained gas from a liquid and particularly for separating dissolved or entrained air from oil used in hydraulic systems or as electrical insulation. Contaminated oil, containing dissolved or entrained gas, is introduced into a degassing chamber where the gas is removed in a relatively low pressure atmosphere. The oil, with at least part of the gas removed is withdrawn from the chamber through a cycling valve which automatically closes when the oil in the chamber reaches a low level at the end of a degassing phase. After the cycling valve closes, the degassing chamber begins to fill with oil, and the rising oil level operates as a piston to expell the previously separated gas through a vent. When the oil completely fills the chamber, the vent closes and pressure within the chamber rises until a predetermined pressure is reached. The cycling valve then opens automatically, allowing the oil to again be withdrawn. Provision is also made for removing large quantities of air from a system reservoir in one application of the invention by connecting the reservoir to the degassing chamber through a shuttle valve.

The valve includes a floating ball which rises as the boiler is filled so as to seat against an o-ring for sealing the boiler under pressure. A flow diverting plate positioned under the ball permits escaping air to rise rapidly around the ball without causing the ball to lift and be prematurely sealed against the o-ring. The plate also prevents the ball from blocking the air which must enter the boiler when it is drained.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a system for transferring a noxious liquid such as any of the mineral acids from a source of supply under air pressure to a tank and for removing the noxious gas from the tank as the tank is filled. The gas is scrubbed to permit release of the air displaced from the tank to the atmosphere free of any noxious components. The inlet line to the tank includes valve means permitting the free flow of liquid to the tank only as long as the liquid being reduced so that air is present, a valve in the valve means seats on the outlet from the valve means to permit only a small quantity of air to pass into the tank until the air pressure on the source of supply has been relieved, the released air being passed through the scrubber.
