Abstract:
Apparatus for lining by lamination air-permeable containers with thermoplastic film involving a deep drawing operation. The containers are held in deep drawing molds formed in a rotating table and the film blanks are formed from a film web onto individual holding means secured to another rotating table, the driving means for the tables being synchronized such that the film blanks are timely presented for the deep drawing operation following heating. Each holding means includes a metallic frame having a plurality of closely spaced pins for penetrating a film blank around the area to be deep drawn, the pins causing the area to be relieved of stresses during heating and shrinkage and hence troublesome wrinkles in the blanks prior to being deep drawn. Surprisingly, the pins do not cause tearing of even very thin film, because of the head conductor property of the pins and its effect on the arcing of the film blank in the vicinity of the pins as the blank shrinks.

A polymeric formal having the general formula ##STR1## wherein p is 0 or 1, n is a positive integer from 2 to 200 and R represents optionally halogen-substituted straight-chained or branched-chained alkyl radicals having 3 to 8 carbon atoms, an aryl radical or an aralkyl radical which can be substituted on one or both sides with alkyl or hydroxyalkyl ether groups; improved methods for the preparation of such formals, tetrabromoxylylene-bis-(.beta.-hydroxyethylether) compounds employed in the preparation of such formals and the use of such polymeric and oligomeric formals as flame retardant agents in plastic compositions especially thermoplastic and polycondensation plastic compositions.

A flame stabilized molding composition comprising:1. A polyester which is the condensation product of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, acid halide or ester and an aliphatic diol having more than 2 atoms in the chain, and2. 1,4-bis-(.beta.,.gamma.,.gamma.-trichloroallyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrachlorobenzene of the formula ##STR1## SAID 1,4-BIS-(.beta.,.gamma.,.gamma.-TRICHLOROALLYL)-2,3,5,6-TETRACHLOROBENZENE PRESENT IN SAID MOLDING COMPOSITION IN AN AMOUNT OF 5-30 WEIGHT PERCENT, PREFERABLY 10-25%, BASED UPON THE WEIGHT OF SAID POLYESTER.
