Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for the transmission of various synchronization signals with variable periodicity. For synchronization signals with long periodicity, in some aspects of the disclosure, the synchronization signals may be transmitted as single-frequency-network (SFN) synchronization signals and/or the synchronization signals may be repeated a number (N) of times within a synchronization burst to reduce user equipment (UE) search latency and improve UE measurement accuracy. In some examples, the synchronization signals may be repeated within a synchronization burst using a repetition pattern that may be configurable based on the periodicity of transmission or fixed for one or more periodicities of transmission.

Abstract: A configurable new radio (NR) RACH procedure that may be executed by a UE and a base station is disclosed. A first message can be transmitted, in an inactive or idle state, a on a physical random access channel, where the first message includes a random access preamble. A second message can be received on a downlink channel in response to the first message, where the second message includes a temporary cell radio network temporary identifier and an uplink grant for the user equipment. A request can be transmitted on an uplink channel based on the uplink grant. A common search space of a downlink control channel can be monitored, such as for an acknowledgement message or a negative acknowledgement message corresponding to the request and identifiable based on the temporary cell radio network temporary identifier.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for synchronization signal (SS) blocks in which synchronization signals and broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted. Broadcast channel transmissions may be demodulated using SS transmissions, reference signal transmissions, or combinations thereof. Broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted in a subset of SS block time resources, and synchronization signals may be transmitted in another subset of SS block time resources. Reference signals may be transmitted using tones within the broadcast channel time resources, and may be transmitted at a higher density for portions of the broadcast channel transmission bandwidth that are outside of the SS transmission bandwidth. Waveforms for reference signal transmissions, and information provided by reference signal transmissions may be provided.

Abstract: Techniques for wireless communication are described. A method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signal within a synchronization signal (SS) block; receiving at least a portion of a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) of the SS block, the PBCH comprising a self-decodable portion and an outside portion; and decoding the PBCH based at least in part on receiving the self-decodable portion of the PBCH. The synchronization signal has a first bandwidth. The self-decodable portion of the PBCH has a second bandwidth substantially within the first bandwidth. The outside portion having a bandwidth that is outside of the second bandwidth and within a PBCH bandwidth, the PBCH bandwidth being greater than the first bandwidth.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing wake-up radio (WUR) signals are disclosed. In accordance with some implementations, a base station determines a numerology for WUR signaling and a WUR signaling configuration. The base station may transmit a WUR signal to one or more UEs based on the determined numerology and the signaling configuration. The base station, in response to transmitting a WUR signal, may transmit a paging message to the one or more UEs. Systems and methods for monitoring WUR signals are also disclosed. In accordance with some implementations, a wireless device determines numerology for WUR signal and WUR signaling configuration. A wireless device may monitor a WUR signal based on the determined numerology and the signaling configuration. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A device—such as a base station or user equipment (UE)—may transmit a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) including signaling information in addition to channel estimation information. To improve reception of the DMRS signaling information, the transmitting device may employ data protection techniques to the signaling information and modify a data payload transmitted in the physical data channel associated with the DMRS. In one aspect, the transmitting device may modify cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits in the payload to include verification for the signaling information. In another aspect, the transmitting device may determine a scrambling code based on the signaling information, and may scramble the payload based on the scrambling code.

The communication timing associated with the communication procedure may depend on the numerology used for the communication procedure and may be conveyed by the base station to the UE in a control message or via system information. In some cases, the numerology may indicate the communication timing.

Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate scalable synchronization channels in a wireless communications system. According to one example, a wireless communication device may identify a reference synchronization channel including a reference bandwidth and a reference numerology, where the reference numerology includes a reference subcarrier spacing and a reference cyclic prefix. The reference synchronization channel may be scaled according to a type of communication, resulting in a scaled synchronization channel including a scaled bandwidth and a scaled numerology compatible with the communication type. According to another example, a wireless communication device may determine a communication type employed by the device for wireless communications, and may search for a particular scaled synchronization channel based on the determined communication type. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for multiplexing new radio (NR) physical broadcast channels (NR-PBCHs) with NR synchronization signals. An exemplary method that may be performed by a wireless node includes determining a frequency offset to use in transmitting one or more synchronization signals and one or more physical broadcast channels (PBCHs) and transmitting the one or more synchronization signals, using a synchronization signal (SS) transmission band having an SS center frequency, and the one or more PBCHs, using a PBCH transmission band having a PBCH center frequency that differs from the SS center frequency by the determined frequency offset.
