摘要： A Filtering System which is capable of handling large quantities of coolants and the System includes a reservoir for filtrates as, for example, from metal-working machines. The filtrate is returned to such machines by a pump which draws some of it from the reservoir, passes it through an eductor and then returns it to the reservoir. In operation, suction is applied to the outlet side of the filters to cause flow through them. In addition, valve means are provided so that the pump discharge can be used to clean the filters.

摘要： A jumping pit of the portable type for use in conjunction with pole vault and high jump events. First, second and third modules are positioned adjacent each other and have a main cover secured thereto and extending thereover. Each of the modules comprise a lower foam section having an upper foam section secured thereto. The lower foam section is provided with a plurality of spaced apart vertical openings extending therethrough and is constructed of a foam material which is more firm than the upper foam section. A module cover encloses the foam sections and has a loosely woven top provided thereon. The main cover also has a loosely woven top portion, the tops of the covers permitting air to escape from the foam sections upon the jumper falling thereon. An auxiliary module having a cover thereon may be secured to the front end of the modules when the pit is being used for pole vaulting. A flap extends from the main cover over a portion of the auxiliary module and is secured thereto.

摘要： Pipeline curvature is detected, measured and recorded by an instrumented pig carrying an array of sensing wheels down a length of pipeline with the sensing wheels engaging the inner wall of the pipeline in a symmetrical configuration about the axis of the pipeline. The rotation of the sensing wheels is encoded as a function of the distance travelled by each wheel over predetermined increments of axial travel of the array down the pipeline to provide periodic readout of curvature parameters between known positions (over known increments of length) of the run of pipeline traversed by the pig. A magnetic tape recorder in the pig records the curvature readout for each incremental length of pipeline traversed to provide a recorded profile of curvature correlated to position along the run to establish initial acceptable curvature conditions therefor. A succeeding run of the pig through the same run of pipeline results in a second profile which can be compared with the first profile in a computer to determine variations in curvature from the initial conditions together with the location of such variations along the run.

摘要： A method and apparatus for handling and transporting rod-like articles between production machines, for example articles such as cigarette filters between filter rod makers and cigarette filter tippers. Rods transported end to end along a longitudinal stream have the leading rods axially separated from the next adjacent rod by separator rollers which engage the rods of the stream, at least one of these rollers being a floating roller resiliently urged against the rod stream. The leading rods are successively deflected downwardly by engagement with and between the peripheries of a pair of rollers, the peripheral portions adjacent the stream of which rollers are inclined upwardly in the direction of travel and when the rollers rotate in the opposite direction such that both peripheries move downwardly adjacent the stream, they receive the leading separated rod, arrest its longitudinal movement and move it downwardly after which the rod is dropped onto a conveyor. The downwardly deflected rods move side by side on a conveyor to an infeed station where they are frictionally gripped and forced through a throat into the lower side of a storage hopper with a force sufficient for the rod-like articles to push upwardly further up into the storage hopper other rods already located therein.

摘要： A system and apparatus for grading and sorting tobacco leaves and other objects according to brightness and two color tones are provided. The tobacco leaves or objects are caused to traverse a background plate of known color and both are impinged by polychromatic light. The light reflected therefrom in three distinct spectral bands is detected and analyzed according to a predetermined mathematical relationship to compare the brightness and two color tones of the said leaves or objects to standards which are selectively dialed in to the apparatus. Logic circuitry is provided to constrain acceptance or rejection of the leaves or objects by the system in response to a determination that at least one of the characteristics of brightness and two color tones exceeds a predetermined deviation from the preset standards. One of the spectral bands is chosen to provide uniform reflectivity from the series of leaves or objects being sorted to normalize the size of the various objects to that of the background surface.
