摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device, a discharge roller pair, a cooling fan, a detection portion, and a cooling fan control unit. The discharge roller pair discharges a sheet on which a toner image has been fixed in the fixing device to a discharge tray via a discharge port. The cooling fan cools the sheet discharged on the discharge tray by blowing air thereto. The detection portion detects a rear end of the sheet being conveyed from the fixing device toward the discharge port. The cooling fan control unit performs control so that, within a prescribed period from a point in time of detection of the rear end of the sheet by the detection portion to when the rear end passes through the discharge roller pair, a rotation speed of the cooling fan is reduced to be lower than a reference speed used to cool the sheet.

摘要: A drum cleaner in a drum unit removes toner from a photosensitive drum. A waste-toner conveyance pipe has a waste-toner discharge port and conveys toner removed from the photosensitive drum by the drum cleaner. A toner accommodation chamber accommodates toner to be supplied to a developing roller. A waste-toner accommodation chamber accommodates toner removed from the photosensitive drum. A toner cartridge rotatably moves relative to the drum unit between: a first position at which a waste-toner receiving port is separated from the waste-toner discharge port in a state where the toner cartridge is mounted on the drum unit; and a second position at which an internal space of the waste-toner accommodation chamber is in communication with an internal space of the waste-toner conveyance pipe through the waste-toner discharge port and the waste-toner receiving port in a state where the toner cartridge is mounted on the drum unit.

摘要: An image forming apparatus is provided. The image forming apparatus includes an image bearer and a cleaning blade configured to remove toner particles remaining on the image bearer. The cleaning blade includes an elastic member in contact with a surface of the image bearer to remove the toner particles. The elastic member has a Martens hardness of from 3 to 8 N/mm2 when measured by a nanoindentation method with a load of 1 μN. The toner particles comprise toner base particles and an external additive, and the external additive comprise silica particles. A liberation ratio (Xs) of the silica particles liberated from the toner particles is from 40% to 75% when measured by an ultrasonic vibration method. A proportion (R70) of the silica particles having a volume-based particle diameter of 70 nm or more in the silica particles liberated from the toner particles is from 70% to 90% by number.
