摘要: A seal for preventing intrusion of moisture between a lowermost or first movable tube section of a power operated antenna mast and an insulator between the first tube section and the panel through which the mast projects, the seal including a substantially inelastic polymeric insulator mounted on the panel with a bore therethrough surrounding the first tube section, an inside surface on the insulator perpendicular to the bore intersecting the latter at a lip extending through 360.degree. around the first tube section, and a substantially inelastic polymeric sleeve on and movable with the first tube section having an annular frustoconical seal shoulder engageable on the lip in an extended position of the first tube section to define a moisture seal between the latter and the insulator.

摘要: Telescoping tubes capable of being extended for use as a mast are extendable or retractable by way of a tape having one end connected to the smallest tube and its other end contained in a spool. A tape guide is provided in the tube having the largest diameter. The tape guide is rectangular in section. A pair of guide rollers are provided adjacent the tape guide. Each guide roller is in rolling contact with a side edge of the tape at a location between the tape guide and means for winding or unwinding the tape.

摘要: A power antenna control circuit used in a vehicle wherein a relay coil is connected to a battery through a transistor and a limit switch at the antenna lowering side and a circuit for rotating a motor by a relay switch. The transistor is turned off when an ignition switch is turned on and turned on when the ignition switch is turned off. While the ignition switch is on, the relay coil is not excited, thus enabling to reduce the electricity consumption of the battery. When the ignition is turned on, the relay coil is excited to form a circuit for rotating the motor in a direction of lowering the antenna, and, when the lowering of the antenna is completed, supply of the current to the motor and the relay coil is interrupted through the agency of the limit switch at the antenna lowering side.

摘要: A drive and storage drum is comprised of input and output frusto-conical sections. The input section has a resilient drive member and locking tangs disposed thereon which cooperate with slots disposed on the output section to provide a resilient drive connection and axial positioning between the input and output sections. An antenna cable is drivingly connected to the output section while a drive motor is drivingly connected through a worm drive to the input section. The resilient drive connection permits relative angular motion between the input and output sections when the end of cable travel is reached but the drive motor is not concurrently stopped.

摘要: A mechanical system is disclosed to deploy an antenna on a support which may, for example, be a spacecraft. A series of telescoping tubes are nested one within the other when the antenna is in a retracted stowed position. The outermost tube is rigidly attached to the support and the inner tubes are latched in the stowed position by a caging mechanism. The antenna is driven toward a deployed position by a dual motor driven cable which is terminated in a driving tube at the lower end of the innermost tube, from whence the cable is trained about pulleys at the tops and bottoms of successively large tubes of the antenna. The cable is wound on a drum at the lower end of the antenna and coaxial therewith. During deployment of the antenna, the drum rotates, thereby reeling in the deployment cable. The initial movement of the cable causes cam releasing of the latches in the caging device. Thereafter, the antenna tubes are extended until the final deployed position of the antenna is reached. A ratchet attached to the drum prevents reverse rotation of the drum and locks the antenna in the deployed position until the ratchet is released.

摘要: A pointing error compensating device for compensating the error induced in a position indicator as a result of forces acting on a structure, such as gravitational forces acting on a large antenna having a reflecting dish, that is pivotal about an elevation axis.The error compensating device comprises a torque producing device having a moment arm in the form of an eccentric mass attached to a shaft coupled to the structure, the shaft being rotatable in response to a pivotal movement of the structure. The shaft is also coupled to a drive shaft of the position indicator. The eccentric mass is attached to the transmission shaft in such a manner that it applies a torque to the latter which is proportional to the cosine of the angular orientation of the structure about the elevation axis. The transmission shaft is deflected torsionally by the eccentric mass in an amount which is designed to be approximately equal and opposite to the error which otherwise would be induced into the position indicator.
