Abstract:
A roller may have a roller cylinder having two ends and an axle assembly in at least one end of the roller cylinder. The axle assembly has an axle stub extending out from the roller cylinder and rotatably mounted therein by two spaced-apart bearings. In another aspect, an axle cartridge for a roller includes a sleeve having a length and having two ends and two bearings mounted in the sleeve, spaced-apart from each other. An axle stub is mounted in the bearings for rotation relative to the sleeve, the axle stub being configured to protrude from the sleeve. A roller may be manufactured by mounting an axle cartridge as described herein in each end of a roller cylinder.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a debris cap for roller-way conveyors. The debris cap closes off the ends of a channel-shaped body, thus preventing debris inside the channel-shaped body from escaping the ends. The debris cap has a pair of side arms with recesses for engaging with a roller-bearing axle. A floor of the debris cap substantially forms a seal with the bottom of the channel-shaped body, thus closing off the ends of the channel-shaped body.
Abstract:
A support for supporting the end of a shaft protruding from a conveyor roller for dampening the vibrations of the conveyor roller by providing a flexible connection between spaced first and second supports where the supports include structure for resisting the separation of the rubber. A method of dampening the transmission vibrations of a conveyor roller assembly is also provided.
Abstract:
A wheeled conveyor rail segment has a frustopyramidal cross-sectional shaped support rail, which can be made from roll-formed galvanized steel. A plurality of wheels are joined to the galvanized steel support rail and can rotate with respect thereto, enabling goods to be transported by rolling over the conveyor rail segment. The wheel axles can be held in place by axle bearing units that slide into longitudinal grooves in the support rail. All materials can be made electrically conductive, allowing the conveyor rail segment to be used in applications where control of electrostatic discharge is desired, such as handling semiconductor materials and electronic equipment.
Abstract:
An extended life ball transfer unit has a housing with a well of generally cup-shaped configuration with at least the lower portion of its surface being defined by a pair of radii mutually offset to opposite sides from its vertical axis to generate a gothic church arch cross section. A passage extends therethrough at the base of the housing well. Sealed in the well is a spherical conveyor ball having a radius of smaller length than the radii defining the lower surface of the well, and the well defining radii having their origins above the center of the conveyor ball. A multiplicity of spherical bearing balls is disposed between the conveyor ball and at least the lower portion of the well. The bearing balls support the conveyor ball and transferring the load from the conveyor ball to the housing over an annular area defined by an arc of about 5-15° with its center spaced about 30°-40° upwardly from the passage. A annular cap is seated in the upper portion of the well and has an inner surface portion bearing against the surface of the conveyor ball to provide a sealing action limiting debris from passing into the lower portion of the well.
Abstract:
A roller conveyor roller for furnace-heated metal strip has a roller shell journaled on a shaft with bearings providing thermal and electrical insulation of the shell from the shaft. The shell can be divided into shell segments each of which can have two bearings. One of these bearings can be a conical bearing with conical rings and with rollers which are thermally and electrically insulating.
Abstract:
A transport roller suspension mechanism for supporting at least one transport roller of a sample transport mechanism for introducing a substantially planar sample carrier to a chemical analysis device, the transport roller mechanism comprising: a suspension block arranged to be pivotally connected to a fixed portion of the sample transport mechanism and being arranged to rotatably receive one end of a transport roller shaft; and a biasing member arranged to be resiliently urged against the suspension block.
Abstract:
A survival tower for rescuing people in an emergency has a new system for controlling traffic inside an emergency chute as well as a new management system for smoke and flames. Instead of trying to keep smoke and flames outside, the system works at eliminating it as soon as it gets in by recirculating the air. As for managing people, they are temporarily slowed down whenever they approach a new entrance which lets time for a new user to get in. Also, a system for receiving people at the end of the chute which slows them down gradually offers a smooth finish to the ride. The system can be built inside a building or built outside such as to retrofit an existing building. A system of vertical ladders also serves as backup should there be any problem with the chute as well as “firemen poles” and a floor by floor elevator system for emergency personnel such as first aid provider and firemen.
Abstract:
A pair of universal mounting brackets for a stub idler assembly accommodates an attachment of the stub idler assembly to either an upper or a lower face of the conveyor support structure, accommodates a wide range of linear adjustment of the stud idler bearing block with respect to the bracket and the conveyor structure and permits variable angular adjustment of the stub idler through an industry standard range of 5° downwardly from the horizontal.
Abstract:
A conveyor system for use in combination with a portable sawmill that generally includes an upper frame assembly, a lower frame assembly, an outgoing belt mounted on the upper frame assembly, and an incoming belt mounted on the lower frame assembly. A motor and gear assembly operably coupled to the outgoing and incoming belts drive them in opposing directions. A portable sawmill blade may be positioned in spaced relation above the outgoing belt to cut wooden cants into individual boards, and the lower frame assembly is adapted to carry the remaining cant and processed board back towards an operator station.
