Abstract: Tonneau cover for placement on a pick-up truck bed, said tonneau cover being made of an energy recoverable foam capable of withstanding the torsional and rotational torque subjected to the truck bed during strenuous off-road conditions without the cover popping off or coming undone at any corner. Further in order to achieve this withstanding of torque and other forces, the cover is attached to the front of the truck bed by at least one hinge which is holding the cover onto the truck by its own independent suspension. This causes a “floating” effect of the cover on top of the truck bed while the truck is; being put to the test on off-road conditions, and allowing the cover to twist and turn during off-road operation. The top surface of the tonneau cover may have a smooth surface, while the underside may be textured like a snakeskin for crumbling upon a rear end collision. Use of the tonneau cover of the present invention results in a significant gas mileage increase.

Abstract: A hard cover for the open bed of a pickup truck is thermoformed from two sheets of heat deformable plastic material. The top sheet has a slightly crowned surface and four depending walls defining a perimeter lip corresponding to the top ledge of a pickup truck bed. The bottom sheet reinforces the top sheet and is itself slightly crowned and includes four walls. The bottom sheet includes prop support members which depend below the margin defined by the perimeter lip of the hard cover. The perimeter lip of the hard cover may be adapted to reside within a range of similarity sized pickup truck bed rail margins, so that one hard cover can be utilized on several truck models. The hard cover may also be associated with a molded platform that overlays and closely conforms to the bed rails of a truck bed to provide a protective truck bed cover assembly. The molded platform is provided with a channel to receive the lip of the hard cover to provide a seal. The hard cover is releasibly attached to the molded platform, and the molded platform itself is adapted for direct installation to the truck bed. The molded platform is an intermediate interface between the hard cover and the truck bed. The molded platform protects the truck bed rail against damage when the present hard cover is supported upn the truck bed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a vertically and horizontally collapsible truck bed cap including a planar platform attached to the truck bed adjacent the cab. Vertically depending from the upper surface of the platform are a plurality of extendable hydraulic cylinders which support a rigid cover member. The cover member has a substantially inverted U-shaped vertical cross section with top and front walls and two parallel spaced side walls vertically depending therefrom which rest on the hydraulic cylinders. A canopy member is received within the cover member a portion of which is peripherally attached thereto while the remaining portion is extendable therefrom. The canopy is supported in an extended or retracted position by a frame structure including a plurality of spring loaded, horizontally telescoping rods attached to the cover member front wall. The rods may be locked in a retracted position by a release button and key lock mechanism in communication therewith. A tool box is removably attached to the platform providing additional storage for hand tools and similar items. The lower telescoping rods have rollers at a distal end for rollably engaging a track mechanism on each truck bed sidewall.

Abstract: A tarpaulin cover having a fabric cover sheet which has an elastic band extending around portions of its perimeter and contained in a hem. A number of spaced cutouts are provided along the hem for exposing the elastic band for tie down hooking and unhooking access.
