    摘要: A system for processing video data to be displayed comprises a controller and a monitor. The controller includes a memory for storing the digital data to be displayed and apparatus for sequentially reading data from the memory. The data from the controller is conducted in digital form to the separately housed monitor separated from the controller. In the monitor, the digital data is converted into analog form and displayed. In the converting process, the digital data is first converted to an analog current and then the analog current is converted to a voltage. An additional voltage-to-voltage conversion may occur to isolate the capacitance of the display device. This system is particularly suited for high resolution systems (greater than 1000.times.1000 pixels) in which a new pixel is refreshed at least every 10 nanoseconds.

    摘要: The computer system of this invention has a simple processing unit for providing most data processing by the computer system under control of a read-only memory which contains instructions and other data for the CPU. The system also includes a random access memory, a keyboard, a video terminal, and a port device in the form of a tape recorder/player. A master clock initiates timing used throughout the system. A multi-line data bus interconnects the CPU and the different memories of the system including the keyboard and the video RAM. Bi-directional communication is possible on the data bus. The addressing of these different memories is by way of an address bus from the CPU, which is a uni-directional bus. Data to be operated upon is stored in the random access memory. The keyboard is used for inputting data to the CPU and the video terminal is used for displaying data. Features of the present invention include a special reset scheme for the CPU, a multiplexing scheme for addressing the RAM, a technique for simply altering the control to provide capabilities of different capacity memories, alternate display of characters to provide either a 32-character line or a 64-character line, an improved keyboard selection scheme, and improved video processing means.

    摘要: A unique intra-dot/inter-dot scanning system which gives superior quality speed performance. The intra-dot and inter-dot scanning system is applicable to both serial and line impact dot matrix printers, line and serial thermal printers, ink jet, laser and LCD printers, as well as computer monitors and television. The scanning is perpendicular to the beam's motion over the tube and one synchronized cycle is completed while the beam travels one-half dot diameter to three dot diameters. In the preferred embodiment, the raster scanning system is a cathode ray tube display having a source of an intensity modified electron beam and a main means for deflecting the beam to create a series of horizontal sweeps of the beam from the top to the bottom of a display screen; the deflection means comprises a secondary means for deflecting the electron beam; and, the driver means comprises signal producing means for applying a repetitive sinusoidal electrical signal to the deflection means.

    摘要: In a display system for generating a display of graphic objects over a video camera picture, the graphic objects to be displayed are represented by transition specifications stored in a memory. The transition specifications contain data identifying the horizontal position at the start of each transition between the camera picture and the graphic object, the width of the transition, the brightness in the graphic object, and a weight step value corresponding to the inverse of the width of the transition. As the electron beam of a cathode ray tube display device traverses a transition, a weighting value is continuously computed by changing the weighting value from the beginning value on one side to the final value on the other side in steps equal to weight step size. The computed weighting value is used to control the mixing of the video camera picture signal and a video signal representing the graphic objects in the transitions between the video camera picture and the graphic objects.

    摘要: A circuit in a video layout system permits the operator to view any portion of text material whose width exceeds that of a display screen of a CRT. The circuit has an operator controllable, variable reference signal generator which provides a signal whose amplitude with respect to an initial amplitude is related to the desired direction and degree of scrolling. This reference signal is subtracted from the horizontal deflection ramp signal to produce an offset ramp signal. A comparator compares the ramp and reference signals and blanks the electron beam until the ramp exceeds the reference to prevent text information from being displayed on the parameter section of the display screen.
