    摘要: There is provided a system and method for coupling with a shaft. In particular, there is provided a friction shaft coupler that includes a center plate and a plurality of outer plates, wherein the outer plates are configured to abut the center plate. The center plate and the plurality of outer plates each include a shaft bore configured to receive a shaft and a plurality of stub bores. The friction shaft coupler also includes a plurality of stubs, wherein each stub is configured to fit inside one of the plurality of stub bores, the plurality of stubs comprising a plurality of apertures that are perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the stubs. Additionally, the friction shaft coupler includes a plurality of set screws configured to fit inside the apertures of the stubs, wherein the set screws are accessible for adjustment via access holes in the plurality of outer plates.

    摘要: A hub-driveshaft assembly comprises a hub and driveshaft with a flat portion having a width. The hub comprises a body having an axial bore therethrough, a set screw hole extending radially through a wall of the body and communicating with the axial bore, and an alignment feature positioned near an entrance to the axial bore, wherein the alignment feature substantially aligns the flat portion of the driveshaft with the set screw hole when the driveshaft is inserted into the axial bore. In another embodiment, the hub comprises an alignment feature to promote proper alignment of the driveshaft with respect to the hub when the driveshaft is inserted into the axial bore, wherein the alignment feature is eliminated under load. In yet another embodiment, the hub comprises an alignment feature that flattens in response to loading from the driveshaft.

    摘要: The present invention provides an assembly for attaching a hub to a shaft. The hub, which may be a portion of a gear, pulley, chain sprocket or other power carrying device, includes a collar or annular wall having two axially extending relief cuts on opposite sides of a shaft opening, which define a pair of opposed projections or clamp members. The clamp members include opposed flats on the inside of the shaft opening which engage complementarily configured flats on the shaft. A threaded fastener such as a bolt extends through smooth radial bores in one clamp member and the shaft and into a complementarily threaded bore in the other clamp member. The internal flats of the hub include opposed arcuate, axially extending reliefs. The outside surface of the hub proximate the smooth bore defines a chordal surface which the bolt engages.

    摘要: An annular component, such as the inner race of an antifriction bearing, fits over a shaft with a slip fit, and then is secured with set screws that bear against an internal band that forms part of the component. The band, in turn, bears against the surface of the shaft. The band has detached ends, which lie midway between the set screws and may be wedge-shaped and overlapped, so that when the set screws are turned down the wedge-shaped ends ride over each other and aid in securing the component to the shaft.

The collar has an end wall and an axial region extending over an outer inclined contact surface of the ring.     摘要: A fluid coupling (11) is attached to a pulley (25) attached to an input shaft (35) and a hub (33) having a cylindrical opening. The coupling has an output member (11) and an input member rotatably disposed within a viscous fluid chamber to transmit torque from the input member to the output member in response to relative rotation therebetween. The input member includes a shaft (17) having a boss (47) adjacent the rear surface of the output member. The boss defines a cylindrical extension (49) located within the hub opening. A locking "V" groove (51) is located within the hub opening on the extension. Threaded openings (57) are radially disposed within the hub and have center lines off-set with respect to the center line of the "V" groove when the components are assembled. A set screw (59) in each opening has a frusto-conical surface (61) engaged with an angled surface (63) of the "V" groove to draw the coupling and input shafts together. Radial surfaces (55 and 45) perpendicular to the axis A--A of rotation are located on the boss and hub and aid alignment of and securement of the two members. The boss also includes a pilot opening (53) engaged with the input shaft to aid alignment.
