The fluid reservoir is connected to the cleansing means by a port such that fluid from the reservoir is dispensed from the cleansing means as the unit is rotated. The effective size of the port can be regulated to control the amount of fluid dispensed.

The bristle arrangement also includes a second brush portion which has a second set of bristles, wherein the second brush portion oscillates at a selected frequency. The second set of bristles has a circular arrangement, fitting within the opening of the annular arrangement of the first set of bristles. The first and second sets of bristles have a diameter within the range of 3 mils to 5 mils, and a length in the range of 0.3 to 0.425 inches. The first bristle set includes 40 to 100 bristle tufts and the second bristle set includes 40 to 120 bristle tufts, which are substantially evenly spread, respectively.

摘要： The brushhead attachment system includes a hub member which is secured to a drive shaft of a personal care appliance for oscillating action. The hub member includes a number of spaced locking elements in the form of protrusions around the periphery thereof. An annular outer brushhead portion with a first group of bristles includes a plurality of spaced grooves in the outer surface thereof which mate with extending pins in the body of the appliance for insertion and removal of the outer brushhead portion. An inner brushhead portion is configured to fit within the annular opening of the outer brushhead portion and includes a plurality of depending legs which mate with the protrusions on the drive member for resulting oscillating action of the inner brushhead portion when the drive member oscillates, at least some of the legs having latch elements which fit onto an interior lip of the outer brushhead portion in such a manner that the inner and outer brushhead portions may be installed and removed as a unit, while permitting the inner brushhead portion to be freely rotatable relative to the outer brushhead portion.

Two circular rear apertures are formed in the distal wall and two circular proximal apertures are formed in the proximal wall. A pair of plastic transparent tubes are provided. Each tube has a distal end and a proximal end. A plurality of tufts secured to the interior face of each tube define openings. Further provided is a plurality of apertures through the tubes between the tufts for the passage of cleansing/disinfectant fluid a from the chamber into the tubes for cleaning the arms of a user. Provided last is a drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a motor with drive pulleys. The drive assembly further includes driven pulleys extending distally from each tube. A drive belt couples the drive pulleys and the driven pulleys.

A mechanism housing is affixed to the upper portion of the handle and includes a motor operably connected to a drive gear. A pair of cam gears are mechanically engaged with and disposed on opposing sides of the drive gear. A cam is affixed to each cam gear, wherein each cam engages an opposing end of an actuator affixed to a head assembly that is operably connected to the mechanism housing. Activation of motor causes rotation of the drive gear, which causes the cams to make alternating reciprocal contact with the opposing ends of the actuator, thereby causing reciprocal side-to-side motion of the head assembly and the attached scrubbing pad. A pulley, cable, and spring assembly also causes reciprocal up-and-down motion of the head assembly via a sliding exterior handle portion.
