Abstract: Systems and methods for determining an intended user selection of a search result. For example, a system may display a first set of search results, including a first search result, and thereafter replace display of the first set of search results with a second set of search results, including a second search result. The system may receive selection of the second search result. If the selection of the second search result was received shortly after display of the second set of search results replaced the first set of search results, the system may update the selection from the second search result to the first search result. For example, if selection of the second search result occurred shortly after display of the second search result replaced the first search result, the system may determine that the user intended to select the first search result but inadvertently selected the second search result.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for substituting an updated segment of media guidance data that no longer includes a selected media asset identifier with another segment of media guidance data that includes the selected media asset identifier. A media guidance application may determine, following an update to a segment of media guidance data, that a selected media asset identifier, associated with a given media asset classifier, is no longer included in the updated segment of media guidance data. The media guidance application may retrieve another segment of media guidance data that is associated with the given media asset classifier and that includes the selected media asset identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for providing content for consumption on a mobile device by temporarily licensing the content to the mobile device while the mobile device is travelling between two locations having media devices licensed to provide the content for consumption, or while temporarily outside a location having a media device licensed to provide the content for consumption. Upon detecting that the mobile device is leaving a location at which the content is being provided it is determined whether the mobile device is within a threshold distance of the location, or if the content is licensed to be provided for consumption by a media device at an identified destination. The content is temporarily licensed for consumption on the mobile device to allow the mobile device to provide the content for consumption while outside the first location or while travelling to the second location.

The method includes retrieving a first media guidance data segment of a plurality of media guidance data segments. While generating for display the media asset identifiers of the first media guidance data segment, a first user input corresponding to navigating to the media asset identifiers of a linked media guidance data segment is received. In response to receiving the first user input, the linked media guidance data segment is retrieved, and the media asset identifiers of the linked media guidance data segment are generated for display.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for selecting media content based on travel information. A set of media content items is maintained. Each media content items having a respective associated spoiler metadata item that lists a spoiler time value that corresponds to a time when a spoiler event occurs in a respective media content item. Travel information related to a planned trip is received from a user. A trip duration value is determined based on the received travel information. The trip duration value is compared to a spoiler time value of a spoiler metadata item associated with a media content item of the set of media content items. In response to determining that the spoiler time value exceeds the trip duration value, the media content item is provided for display during the planned trip.

The systems and methods may receive a media asset viewed by a user, receive a set of base keywords, and determine a character in the media asset. Further, the systems and methods may determine a set of custom keywords based on dialog in the media asset corresponding to the character and determine for a custom keyword, from the set of custom keywords, an equivalent base keyword from the set of base keywords. The systems and methods may determine a response to a received user request, wherein the response includes the base keyword from the set of base keywords, and generate a modified response to the user request based on the response to the user request, wherein the modified response replaces the base keyword with the custom keyword.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling permissions to change parental control settings based on vocal characteristics of a user. In some aspects, the media guidance application may receive a voice command from a user to update a parental control setting. The media guidance application may determine both what the requested change is and an age (or age range) of the user is who is attempting to change the parental control setting based on vocal characteristics of the voice command. If the media guidance application determines that an age range associated with the user exceeds an age associated with the requested change to the parental control setting, the media guidance application may update the parental control setting at a media device based on the requested change. Accordingly, the media guidance application may allow only users of appropriate ages to change parental control settings at the media device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for determining whether a user is authorized to perform an action that meets a goal of a sound. A media guidance application may detect a sound generated by a first device external to a media equipment device. The media guidance application may retrieve, from a lookup table, a known goal that is associated with the sound. The media guidance application may detect a user in a viewing environment. The media guidance application may determine an identity of the user, and may modify playback to encourage or discourage the user from achieving the known goal based on the identity of the user.
