Abstract: A link binding chain is disclosed that enables multiple hops of link bindings to be cascaded to form a chain of link bindings. The binding chain can be leveraged when a one-hop link binding is infeasible or fails to be established. Dynamic binding method switching is disclosed for updating the binding method after a link binding has been established such that the link binding may be selected for a more proper or efficient link binding method to adapt to the changing environment. Methods for broker assisted link binding are disclosed to facilitate link binding functionalities between a source resource and a destination resource that are connected through a binding broker.

Abstract: The application is at least directed to a core network including a non-transitory memory having instructions stored thereon for registering a network function or network function template in the core network. The processor is configured to perform the instruction of determining that registration of the network function or network function template is acceptable. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of transmitting a message including the network function or network function template to a repository in the core network. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of verifying the network function or network function template against existing policies in the core network. The processor is also configured to perform the instruction of registering the network function or network function template in the repository after verification. The application is also directed to a core network that discovers a network function or network function template therein. The application is also directed to a core network that instantiates a network function.

Abstract: It is recognized herein that current approaches to traffic steering in M2M systems lack capabilities, particularly with respect to traversing value added services in an operator's network. As described herein, nodes or apparatuses at a machine-to-machine (M2M) service layer can leverage value added services that are deployed in an operator's network. The M2M service layer may add metadata to downlink traffic so that the metadata can be used to assist with steering and processing data in the operator's value added services (VASs) network. By of example, the M2M service layer can use a control plane interface to push polices into a network operator's VASs network, and to allow functions in the VASs network to extract information from the M2M service layer.

Abstract: A Service Continuity Network Function (SCNF) may be used to provide service continuity support in IoT networks such as 3 GPP and oneM2M, whereby higher layer session and service information is associated with transport layer session information. By means of the SCNF, a higher layer service may be resumed when a new session or connection is created, without support for transport layer session continuity. The service continuity capabilities of the SCNF may be exposed to the service layer of the network by way of a resource data structure.

Abstract: It is recognized herein that current cellular radio access technologies lack capabilities for both long range and low power usage devices. Public LPWAN networks are described herein that may use multiple network servers. Further, the network may distribute IoT devices (e.g., LoRa end nodes) across network servers. This may allow the public IoT networks to balance loads across network servers, to allow for redundancy of network servers, to provide differentiated services across network servers, and to permit roaming of end nodes across different public IoT networks, among other things.

Abstract: A Service Coverage Manager (SCM) may receive or retrieve a report of a service node's coverage and generate a global picture of the service coverage for a service. The SCM may dynamically adjust the service node coverage to accommodate client service requests and provide new service coverage to appropriate clients. The SCM may reduce a service node's service coverage to reduce overlap with another node or reduce wasted resources, or may expand a service node's coverage to cover additional clients.
