摘要: Roll over protection system for a passenger car, comprising at least one extended top unit (1) having substantially vertical beam(s) or tube(s) terminated or bridged by a connecting member (7) at their top ends. Initially in a crash, the upper part of the top unit only deforms by being bent backwards, thus creating a skid-plate against the ground at the same time as impairing the survival room negligibly only.

摘要: A method for monitoring a high-resistivity reservoir rock formation (2) below one or more less resistive formations (3). The method includes transmitting an electromagnetic signal (S) propagating from near a seafloor or land surface (1) by means of an electromagnetic transmitter (5) powered by a voltage signal generator (G). The electromagnetic signal (S) propagates from the seafloor (1) and is guided along a conductive string (7) to the high-resistive formation (2), and propagates as a guided-wave electromagnetic signal (S2) at a relatively higher speed (V2) inside the high-resistivity formation (2) than a propagation speed (V3) in the less resistive formations (3). The guided-wave electromagnetic signal (S2) gives rise to an upward refracting electromagnetic signal (R3) having the relatively lower propagation speed (V3) in the less resistive formations (3) and having an exit angle nearer to the normal (N) to the interface between the high-resistivity formation (2) and the lower-resistivity formation (3), and gives rise to a steeply rising refraction wave front (F3). The refracted electromagnetic wave front (F3) includes refracted electromagnetic signals (R3) detected along an array of sensor antennas (6a, 6b, 6c, . . . , 6k, . . . , 6n) positioned along the seafloor. The array having a direction away from the transmitter (5).

摘要: This invention relates to glass-ceramic materials in the BaO—La2O3—SiO2 system, which are suitable for processing via a powder route, and which, after heat-treatment have a combination of high thermal expansion and excellent refractoriness. The precursor glass powders of the present invention have compositions on a weight percent basis of 10–55% BaO, 3–50% La2O3, 25–48% SiO2 and optionally up to 30% in total of other compatible metal oxides. The powders are substantially free from alkali metal oxides and from boron oxide such that the refractoriness of the glass-ceramic materials is not compromised. The materials may be advantageously employed at high temperatures in direct combination with other materials of high expansion or may be used to join or hermetically seal components made of other materials having similarly high expansion.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for production of molten aluminium by electrolysis of an aluminous ore, preferably alumina, in a molten salt mixture, preferably a sodium fluoride—aluminium fluoride-based electrolyte. The invention describes an electrolysis cell for said production of aluminium by use of essentially inert electrodes in a vertical an/or inclined position, where said cell design facilitates separation of aluminium and evolved oxygen gas by providing a gas separation chamber (14) arranged in communication with the electrolysis chamber (22), thus establishing an electrolyte flow between the electrolysis chamber (22) and the gas separation chamber (14).

摘要: Equipment for continuous, horizontal casting of metal, in particular aluminum. The equipment includes an insulated reservoir or pool (2), which is designed to contain liquid metal, and a mold (3), which can be removed from the pool (2). An insulating plate (19) is provided with holes (25, 26) which communicate with the mold. The mold (3) includes a preferably circular cavity (17) defined by a wall (12, 13) of permeable material for the supply of oil and at least one annular slit or nozzle (16) arranged along the circumference of the cavity for the direct supply of coolant. In addition to the oil, gas can be supplied through the permeable material (12, 13) and annuli (20) are arranged between the permeable wall material and the mold housing (8) to distribute the gas/oil to the wall material. The annuli (20) is divided into sectors using plugs or similar restrictions (21) and are supplied with oil/gas via separate supply channels (10, 11) for each sector, thus making it possible to differentiate the supply of oil/gas around the circumference of the casting piece.

摘要: A method for producing, on an SiC substrate, SiC homoepitaxial layers of the same polytype as the substrate. The layers are grown on a surface of the SiC substrate, wherein the surface is inclined relative to the (0001) basal plane at an angle higher than 0.1 degree but less than 1 degree. An homoepitaxial growth is started by forming a boundary layer with a thickness up to 1 μm.
