Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for reporting channel state information (CSI) for unlicensed coordinated multipoint (CoMP) operations are provided. One technique includes determining, based on one or more conditions, for each of a plurality of base stations available for a coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission, whether the base station has transmitted a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) in unlicensed spectrum. CSI feedback is reported based on the determination.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for activating and deactivating high-band connections, such as millimeter wave (mmW) connections while maintaining a low-band connection, based on a state of a user equipment (UE). An initial low-band connection, such as a connection that uses lower frequencies than mmW frequencies, may be established by a UE and a base station, and the base station may configure the UE for one or more high-band connections with one or more high-band base stations. The base station may provide an activation command to the UE to activate a high-band connection, and the UE may determine a currently supported mode for the activated high-band connection and establish the high-band connection based on the currently supported mode.

In some aspects, a user equipment may receive information identifying a reserved resource allocation, wherein the reserved resource allocation is associated with a reserved resource; receive information identifying another resource allocation, wherein the other resource allocation overlaps with the reserved resource allocation at an overlapped portion; and selectively perform a communication using the overlapped portion for the reserved resource allocation or the other resource allocation based at least in part on at least one of: respective traffic types of the reserved resource allocation and the other resource allocation, or respective priority levels associated with the reserved resource allocation and the other resource allocation. Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes detecting a first reference signal received from a user equipment (UE) in a reference scheduled transmission burst including a plurality of contiguous transmission time intervals (TTIs) received over a shared radio frequency spectrum band; identifying a reference TTI in which the first reference signal is received; determining a contention window size usable by the UE to contend for access to the shared radio frequency spectrum band; and transmitting an indication of the determined contention window size to the UE.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. An eNB determines a CCA parameter for use by a UE in performing a CCA procedure for UL transmission and transmits an indication of the CCA parameter to the UE. The UE receives an indication of the CCA parameter for UL transmission from the eNB and performs the CCA procedure for UL transmission using the indicated CCA parameter. The UE may transmit to the eNB prior to receiving the indication of the CCA parameter. The eNB may use the report in determining the CCA parameter for use by the UE.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes winning a contention for access to an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting at least a portion of a channel usage beacon signal (CUBS) over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The at least portion of the CUBS is transmitted in a number of frequency interlaces of the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. A second method includes winning a contention for access to an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band; determining whether the contention is won within a threshold time before a next symbol period boundary; and transmitting at least a portion of a CUBS over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The at least portion of the CUBS is transmitted during a preamble including a fractional period of a first symbol period. The at least portion of the CUBS may be based at least in part on the determining.

Abstract: Techniques are provided that enable signaling of physical layer parameters in a shared radio frequency spectrum band or a dedicated radio frequency spectrum band (or any available radio frequency spectrum band). One or more physical layer channels may be used to transmit physical layer parameters, and different portions of the channel(s) may carry physical layer information for different groups of UEs. A base station may configure a UE into a UE group that monitors particular channel resources based on the UE group. In this manner, a base station may transmit physical layer parameters that may be received by a UE for receiving wireless communications for one or more subframe. A base station may transmit physical layer parameters to be monitored by the use using a physical hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) indicator channel (PHICH), a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH), a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), or combinations thereof.

Different frequency bands may experience different communication characteristics (e.g., frequency-dependent fading), which may result in undesirable interference patterns and/or coverage gaps. The described techniques provide for channel access methods for multi-band operation. The channel access methods may allow for improved throughput for a wireless communications system. Additionally or alternatively, the described techniques may improve energy efficiency for communicating devices, reduce signaling overhead, or otherwise benefit a wireless communications system. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficient anchoring of high-band communications to low-band transmissions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band for a transmission opportunity. The UE may perform an autonomous uplink transmission over the shared radio frequency spectrum band during a first portion of the transmission opportunity. The UE may transmit a physical layer scheduling request comprising a transmission size parameter for a second portion of the transmission opportunity. The UE may receive an uplink grant for the second portion of the transmission opportunity based at least in part on the scheduling request. The UE may perform a scheduled uplink transmission over the shared radio frequency spectrum band during the second portion of the transmission opportunity according to the uplink grant.
