摘要: An insertion device and insertion set. The insertion device for inserting at least a portion of at least one piercing member of an insertion set through the skin of a patient includes a device housing, a carrier body and a driver. The carrier body is slidably received within the device housing for movement between an advanced position and a retracted position. The carrier body also includes a receiving structure to support the insertion set in a position with the at least one piercing member oriented for insertion through the skin of the patient at a predetermined angle relative to the skin of the patient upon movement of the carrier body from the retracted position to the advanced position. The driver is operatively coupled between the device housing and the carrier body to urge the carrier body with a controlled force and speed from the retracted position toward the advanced position to place at least a portion of the at least one piercing member of the insertion set thorough the skin of the patient to install the insertion set to the patient. The receiving structure of the carrier body is removable from the insertion set while maintaining the installation of the insertion set to the patient.

摘要: An improved structure safety syringe comprised of a barrel having two trapezoidal-shaped tabs, a sleeve with a guide slot and, furthermore, limit slots extending from the circumferential surface at the two ends of the guide slot and an insertion section is formed at the inside end of the limit slot, wherein utilizing the engagement of the tabs and the insertion section enables the positioning of the barrel and the sleeve, and a plunger having a protective cap at the force application end that can be broken off at an appropriate time. When the protective cap is broken off and, furthermore, inserted into the other end of the sleeve, the objective of positioning is achieved and, furthermore, ensures that the hypodermic needle is not exposed.

摘要: A safety needle cap assembly for needles is described. In place of the usual safety cap which requires a doctor, dentist or nurse to manually place it in position on a used syringe needle, the safety needle cap assembly of the invention automatically caps the used needle the instant the needle is withdrawn from the patient. An elastic sheath or spring attached to a safety needle cap is kept under tension, retracting the cap and allowing the needle tip to be exposed. Once used and removed from the patient, the elastic tension is released, causing the safety needle cap to snap over the used needle tip automatically, without any operator assistance. The design of the safety needle cap assembly as described virtually preclude accidental re-emergence of the used needle tip during disposal of the needle-cap assembly.

摘要: An improved and re-useable end cap for use with common, hand-held lancet devices, of the type having a main body and an actuatable lancet receiving assembly structured to temporarily hold a lancet inserted thereinto and to drive the lancet into a piercing orientation so as to prick a patient's skin. The re-useable end cap of the present invention includes a housing having a first end defining an open mouth for removable attachment to the lancet device, a second end having an opening therein and defining a tubular, hollow, main body between therebetween. The open mouth and main body of the cap are structured and disposed to permit at least partial passage of the lancet and lancet receiving assembly therethrough and into a piercing orientation wherein a sharp tip of said lancet is exposed through the opening of the second cap end. The improved re-usable end cap of the present invention, which are intended for use after the lancet receiving assembly has been fired, includes at least one member attached to the cap housing which is movable relative to the cap between a first withdrawn position and a second engaged position. In the second engaged position, the at least one member attached to the cap housing engages the lancet so as to withdraw the lancet from the lancet receiving assembly upon removal of the end cap from the lancet device, and can be utilized to selectively retain the lancet within the cap to facilitate proper disposal.

摘要: A safety hypodermic needle and shielding cap assembly for a standard syringe whose fluid chamber is provided at its front end with a projecting nozzle coaxial with a coupling socket. The assembly includes a needle-supporting hub whose hollow base is coupled to the socket of the syringe, the nozzle then communicating with the needle. Encircling the hub and attached thereto is a resilient actuator collar defining an annular space within which is received the lower end of a helical spring surrounding the needle extending from the hub. The upper end of the spring is received in the cavity of a shielding cap having a center bore therein through which the needle is passable. The cap is tethered by opposing lines of unequal length to the collar. In the retracted mode of the assembly, the spring is compressed by the cap, which is provided with a pair of opposed lugs that are inserted in corresponding slots in the long sides of the collar, thereby latching the cap and exposing the needle, so that it can be injected into a patient. After the needle is withdrawn, the assembly is put in its operative mode by squeezing the collar at its short sides to disengage the lugs and release the cap which is carried by the expanding spring to a position covering the needle point, the tether lines of unequal length acting to cant the cap to offset its bore with respect to the needle point.

摘要: A slotted guard for locking a needle in a shielded position as the needle is removed from a patient, and a guarded winged needle assembly including not only such a slotted, locking guard, but also a needle (with a winged hub attached thereto) slidably mounted within the guard. Preferably, the guard's slot has an angled portion so that when the hub and needle are fully retracted within the guard, the needle's tip will be oriented away from the slot. Also preferably, a piece of absorptive material is disposed in the guard to absorb any fluid dripping from the needle tip after the needle has been locked in its retracted position within the guard following an injection. An elongated anchor preferably protrudes outward from the guard so that the needle user may pull the wings of the hub (or a tube attached to the hub) in a conventional manner to retract the needle (and the hub and any tube attached to the needle) away from a patient while the user simultaneously presses the anchor member against the patient to hold the guard fixed. The user will press the anchor member (to hold the guard fixed) until the retracting needle's hub locks into its shielded position within the guard. In this way, the invention eliminates the risk of an accidental needle stick during and after the injection.

摘要: There is disclosed a protective enclosure for hypodermic syringe needle formed by a tubular sleeve sized for friction fitting engagement over the barrel portion of the syringe, a needle guard portion at the opposed end thereof. The needle guard including a central needle channel traversing the same, and the needle guard being spaced from the tubular sleeve a distance such that the tip end of the syringe needle lies within the confines of the central needle channel in a normal resting position thereof. The sleeve and needle guard are connected by two pair of pivotally movable arms which operate to permit the needle to pass through the central channel during injection, and rest in a needle pocket when injection has been completed.
