Abstract:
An equalization apparatus and equalization method capable of reducing power consumption and minimizing degradation in reception performance even when changes occur in the reception environment. Channel response estimator 101 estimates a channel response from a reference signal and a received signal and outputs the result to control circuit 102. In addition, error corrector and detector 104 detects error from a soft decision value after equalization processing of the received signal in equalizer 103 and outputs an error detection signal to control circuit 102. Control circuit 102 detects a response having the largest delay and larger power than the power level threshold among the channel responses, determines the number of trellis states by making channel responses up to that channel response having the largest delay valid, determines the number of taps necessary for equalization processing in accordance with the number of trellis states determined, controls the power level threshold from an error detection result, and, in the same way, determines the number of taps in channel response estimator 101.
Abstract:
A failure-data register unit receives failure data from a failure detecting module. Based on the failure data, a test-execution instructing unit instructs each module to execute access tests for the module accessed when the failure detecting module detected the failure. When a test-result receiving unit receives results of the access tests, a failure-location identifying unit identifies the failed module based on the results. A server-request control unit suspends server I/O while the access tests are performed.
Abstract:
An image processing method according to an embodiment of the present invention has the following steps: the multi-viewpoint image input step for inputting images obtained from a plurality of viewpoint positions arranged on different straight lines, the detection step (2, 7, 17, 8) for detecting a viewpoint position and its view direction in which a user is seeing at the viewpoint position, and the image generation step (11, 12, 13, 8) for generating a virtual image viewed from the predetermined viewpoint by using the images input in the multi-viewpoint image input step on the basis of the detected predetermined viewpoint position and the view direction. In the image generation step, optimal corresponding points are obtained by detecting a straight line having a width on an epipolar plane image corresponding to the input images, thereby generating an image.

The image forming cartridge is made up of the photoreceptor drum having conductive members, a conductive drum supporting member being fixed in a manner to contact the conductive member, a gear to be contacted with a driving gear when being placed at the image forming apparatus and to be adapted to transfer rotation from the driving gear to the photoreceptor drum and to produce thrust at a time of transfer of rotation, a drum shaft composed of conductors and contacting a part of inner circumferential face of the drum supporting member, collar composed of conductors and being fitted into the drum shaft and an E ring to position the collar.
Abstract:
An improved optimization technique is described for a program code for a processor capable of operating on the basis of either one of a plurality of instruction sets in a computer system. The optimization is carried out by the steps of reading said program code of a target program to be optimized, estimating the costs of executable instruction sequences respectively to be obtained by translating said program code on the basis of said plurality of instruction sets; and determining an optimum one of said plurality of instruction sets for translating said program code by evaluating the costs as estimated under a predetermined criteria.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic image forming apparatus in which an electrostatic latent image is formed on a charged surface of a photoconductive drum. The image is developed with toner into a toner image and the toner image is transferred to a recording medium. A charging roller is in contact with the photoconductive drum and charges the photoconductive drum when the charging roller receives a high voltage. A detector detects a characteristic such as an electrical resistance of the charging roller and outputs a signal indicative of the characteristic. A charging power supply applies a high voltage to the charging roller, the voltage having a value in accordance with the signal. A neutralizing device neutralizes the charged surface of the photoconductive drum before the detector detects the characteristic of the charging roller but does not neutralize the charged surface of the photoconductive drum when the electrostatic latent image is being formed.
Abstract:
A standardized user interface that can handle a system for cooperatively performing various tasks. Session contents display sections display information concerning sessions using display forms that are consonant with session types. The list of the session contents display sections is displayed by a session list display section, and information concerning the sessions can be displayed for each session. Since the session contents display sections detect the input of instructions for session operations, various types of sessions can be held using a standardized user interface. In addition, the generation and extinguishing of sessions can be performed by the session operation unit, and contents of the session information that is collectively managed by the session information update detecting unit can be reflected in the session contents display section of an individual terminal. Furthermore, all of the events initiated by a user can be handled by a control unit.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a system capable of dispensing with the video/audio encoder in each communication terminal. A switch selects one of plural video/audio inputs. A video capture device of a transmission apparatus digitizes the selected video signal. A video encoder effects compression-encoding of the video capture device according to motion JPEG, MPEG and H.261. A selector sets compression video data to be transmitted, among the video data compressed by different encoding methods, and sends such data to a communication buffer. An audio encoder digitizes and encodes the selected audio signal and sends such signal to the communication buffer. The encoded video and audio data of the communication buffer are read to a network. A control circuit controls devices according to control commands received through the network.
Abstract:
An image retrieval method and apparatus for searching a plurality of images stored in an image file for a desired image are disclosed. When a designated image for designating an image to be retrieved is input, and its color is designated, the sizes and colors are compared between description information which stores the feature of each of regions obtained by dividing each of images to be searched stored in the image file, and feature data of the designated image. In this manner, the regions, which are determined to be included in the designated image, of image data are obtained, and the similarities between the obtained regions of image data and the designated image are calculated. Image data having higher similarities are read out from the image file, and are displayed while being sorted in the descending order from the highest similarity.
Abstract:
An apparatus for automatically stabilizing the black level of a displayed picture when (1) an automatic black level stabilizing function is OFF, (2) black level error occurs between at an ON state and at an OFF state and (3) black level variation and picture disturbance occurs during activation and deactivation of the automatic black level stabilizer. Black level variations when the automatic black level stabilizer are OFF is controlled by processing a cathode current in a negative feedback loop and controlling a CRT grid voltage, storing a divided grid voltage during a converging period and processing the grid voltage in another negative feedback loop in order to adjust the grid voltage to an ON state value.
