Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices of the various aspects enable uplink delivery and downlink distribution of media content to users in live uplink streaming services. In various embodiments, media in a live uplink streaming service may be distributed by unicast and/or broadcast delivery methods. Various embodiments may include receiving, in a processor of a live uplink streaming sink computing device, assistance data for a live streaming session, selecting, by the processor, one or more delivery methods for processed media of the live streaming session based at least in part on the assistance data, and transmitting, by the processor, the processed media using the selected delivery methods.

Abstract: A proxy unit is configured to obtain mapping information that maps an identifier for media data to a resource location based on a service for retrieving the media data, wherein the service defines at least one of a plurality of types of transports for transporting the media data, receive a request for the media data from an application service client, determine whether the service is available, and, when the service is available, cause the application service client to receive the media data from a unit that receives the media data using the service from the resource location, based on the mapping information. In this manner, the application service client may receive media data from the unit (e.g., a middleware unit), which then receives the media data using a service that defines transport according to, e.g., broadcast or multicast transport, or another fashion (e.g., unicast) if the defined transport is unavailable.

Abstract: Methods provide mechanisms for efficiently delivering files over a broadcast system to mobile devices. Files for broadcast may be logically identified as belonging to a directory in a file system. A Broadcast Schedule Message may inform receiver devices of files that will be broadcast at a specified time, as well as describe the files. File may be transmitted in file delivery pipes, which may be of different bandwidth and data rates. Receiver devices configured according to the embodiments may make use of the broadcast schedule message to select files to be received based on the service or application with which the file is associated, and whether the file is new or an update to a previously received file. Receiver devices activate receiver circuitry to capture the files within their advertised broadcast window, and pass the files to be broadcast to applications or services requesting the files.

Abstract: A first UE receives a request for a service from an application running on a second UE or an application running on the first UE. The second UE is different than the first UE. The request for the service is a request for a set of files/streams through an MBMS service. The first UE attempts to receive the set of files/streams through the MBMS service from one of a base station or a third UE. The first UE sends a reception report including at least one of a reception acknowledgement or a statistical report associated with the set of files/streams. The at least one of the reception acknowledgement or the statistical report associated with the set of files/streams includes an identifier associated with at least one of the second UE, the third UE, the application running on the second UE, or the application running on the first UE.

Abstract: A device for receiving streaming data includes a broadcast or multicast middleware unit configured to receive the streaming data via a second service and a proxy unit configured to be disposed between the middleware unit and a client application, the proxy unit further configured to receive an indication of whether the streaming data is to be received via a first service or the second service, when the indication indicates that the streaming data is to be received via the first service: disable the middleware unit; and receive the streaming data via the first service, and when the indication indicates that the streaming data is to be received via the second service: activate the middleware unit to receive the streaming data via the second service, wherein the second service comprises at least one of a broadcast service or a multicast service; and receive the streaming data from the middleware unit.
