Abstract:
An imaging process which comprises the development of an image with an aqueous ink jet ink composition comprised of pigment, water, and a polyhydroxy alcohol surfactant present in an amount of from about 2 to about 10 weight percent.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquid developer composition comprising a liquid vehicle, a charge control additive, and toner particles containing pigment particles and a resin selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, halogenated polyolefins, and mixtures thereof. Preferred resins include poly-.alpha.-olefins and chlorinated polypropylenes. The resin is soluble in the liquid vehicle at elevated temperatures and insoluble in the liquid vehicle at ambient temperatures. Also disclosed is a liquid developer composition comprising a liquid vehicle, pigment particles, a charge control additive, and a resin selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, halogenated polyolefins, and mixtures thereof, wherein the resin is soluble in the liquid vehicle at elevated temperatures and insoluble in the liquid vehicle at ambient temperatures, and wherein the liquid developer is prepared by dissolving the resin in the liquid vehicle at temperatures of from about 80.degree. C. to about 120.degree. C., subsequently adding the pigment particles to the resulting solution, attriting the resulting mixture for from about 20 minutes to about 75 minutes, cooling the mixture to ambient temperature over a period of from about 1 hour to about 3 hours with continuous mixing, and subsequently adding to the mixture the charge control additive.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a colored liquid developer composition comprised of an insulating oil base, a stabilized polymer latex component with imbibed molecularly dispersed colored dye components, and a thickener compatible with the stabilizer selected for the latex.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a heterophase ink composition comprised of a water insoluble polymer dispersed in a liquid medium, the polymer containing therein an oil soluble dye, and a nonionic stabilizer permanently attached thereto.
Abstract:
A light-cyan solid ink including an ink vehicle and a colorant. The colorant includes a cyan colorant, a hue-adjusting colorant that absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 500 to about 600 nm, and an optional shade-adjusting colorant that absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 400 to about 500 nm.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a phase change ink comprising (a) a carbon black pigment, (b) a bis-urethane, and (c) a phase change ink carrier, said carrier comprising (i) a branched triamide and (ii) a Fischer-Tropsch wax having an average peak molecular weight of from about 300 to about 800 and a polydispersity of from about 1.001 to about 3.
Abstract:
A light-magenta solid ink including an ink vehicle and a colorant. The colorant includes a magenta colorant, a hue-adjusting colorant that absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 400 to about 500 nm, and an optional shade-adjusting colorant that absorbs light having a wavelength of from about 600 to about 700 nm.
Abstract:
A phase change ink composition includes an ink vehicle and at least one pigment, wherein the ink composition is substantially solid at room temperature and includes at least one dispersant for the at least pigment and at least one synergist.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a phase change carbon black ink composition comprising 1) a low polarity ink carrier comprising (A) a low polarity wax, optionally (B) an ester-terminated polyamide, (2) a dispersant, and (3) a carbon black colorant. The ink can be resistant to substantial aggregation and settling of the carbon black colorant in the melt and up to about the jetting temperature of the ink even when exposed to freeze thaw cycles.
Abstract:
A phase change ink having an ink vehicle, at least one colorant at least one triamide and at least one bis-urethane. The at least one triamide and at least one bis-urethane assist in dispersing colorants, such as pigments like carbon black, in non-polar ink vehicles. Also, disclosed are methods of making such phase change inks.
