Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining a position of a user equipment (UE). A differential round-trip-time (RTT) based positioning procedure is proposed to determine the UE position. In this technique, the UE position is determined based on the differences of the RTTs between the UE and a plurality of base stations. The differential RTT based positioning procedure has much looser inter-gNodeB timing synchronization requirements than the OTDOA technique and also has much looser group delay requirements than traditional RTT procedures.

Abstract: In an aspect, a radar controller determines a first transmission configuration for a reference radar signal on a first link from a first base station to a second base station, and a second transmission configuration for at least one target radar signal on at least one second link from the first base station to the second base station, the at least one target radar signal for sensing of at least one target, the first transmission configuration being different than the second transmission configuration. The radar controller transmits the first and second transmission configurations to the first and second base stations. The first base station transmits the reference radar signal and the at least one target radar signal in accordance with the respective transmission configurations.

Abstract: In an aspect, a radar controller determines a radar slot format that configures transmission of a reference radar signal on a first symbol over a first link from a first base station to a second base station followed by at least one target radar signal on at least one second symbol over at least one second link from the first base station to the second base station, and transmits an indication of the radar slot format to the first base station and the second base station. The first base station transmits, and the second base station receives, the reference radar signal and the at least one target radar signal in accordance with the radar slot format.

Abstract: In some aspects, a base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an instruction that triggers the UE to transmit an uplink random access channel (RACH) message, the instruction identifying a RACH preamble index corresponding to a RACH preamble to be used for the uplink RACH message; transmit, to a plurality of neighbor base stations, information that identifies the RACH preamble index; receive the uplink RACH message from the UE; receive, from the plurality of neighbor base stations, feedback that indicates respective timings with which the uplink RACH message was received by the plurality of neighbor base stations; and estimate a position of the UE based at least in part on a timing with which the uplink RACH message was received by the base station and at least two of the respective timings with which the uplink RACH message was received by the plurality of neighbor base stations.

The second wireless communications system TRP may be configured to send the one or more measurement reports to an entity within the cellular communications system.

Abstract: Disclosed are various techniques for wireless positioning. In an aspect, the time that a user equipment (UE) spends on performing positioning reference signal (PRS) measurements is reduced, by lengthening the PRS measurement period (P) and/or by reducing the PRS symbol duration (K). These modifications may be performed by the UE or by a location management server or other network node and may be made in consideration of the UE's mobility status and other environmental or operating conditions of the UE. In an aspect, a network entity may determine P and K to be used by the UE, and may indicate, to the UE, the P and the K to be used by the UE for measuring at least one PRS. The UE may then use the P and the K for measuring at least one PRS.
