    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling including scheduling information. The scheduling information may include an indication of a joint downlink and uplink transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state for a common beam. The UE may apply the joint downlink and uplink TCI state at the component carriers to activate the common beam to transmit one or more uplink transmissions or to receive one or more downlink transmissions at the UE. The UE may schedule communications with a base station, one or more transmission reception points (TRPs), or both across the component carriers and using the common beam. The communications may include transmitting at least one uplink transmission during one or more uplink resources indicated in the scheduling information and receiving at least one downlink transmission during one or more downlink resources indicated in the scheduling information.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit signaling to a first network entity indicating a location of the UE and a measured reference signal receive power (RSRP). The UE may receive an indication of a time division duplex (TDD) configuration and a slot format indicator (SFI) for communications between the UE and the first network entity based on the RSRP or location. In some cases, the first network entity may receive signaling indicating a set of resource configurations from a second network entity. The first network entity may select a resource configuration (e.g., for communications with the UE) from the set based on a measured RSRP indicated by the UE or a location of the UE. The UE and the base station (e.g., the wireless device and the first network entity) may communicate according to the indicated or selected resource configurations.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may attempt to connect to a base station using a random access procedure. During the random access procedure, the base station may transmit control information and data associated with a random access response (RAR) during an RAR window. The UE may identify a channel quality and may transmit a random access request of a first type to the base station. The base station may receive the random access request and transmit repeating instances of the control information or the data, or both, based on identifying that the random access request is of the first type. The UE may use soft-combining to increase the likelihood of successfully decoding the control information and the data associated with the RAR, and likewise may increase the likelihood of successfully receiving the RAR from the base station.

A user equipment (UE) may receive signaling indicating a configuration for communicating to the UE a random access response of a random access procedure. The configuration may indicate a first quantity of instances of control information associated with the random access response in a set of slots and a portion of the time window configured for the first quantity of instances. The UE may monitor the set of slots for instances of the control information and receive a second quantity of instances of the control information for the UE in a first subset of slots of the set of slots. The second quantity of instances may be less than the first quantity of instances. The UE may combine the instances of the control information from the first subset of slots and decode the random access response based on combining the instances.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for determining application timing for path loss reference signals (PL RS). For example, the application timing is determined by determining an applicable time for a medium access control control element (MAC-CE) based PL RS for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and other uplink transmissions. A user equipment (UE) may receive a MAC-CE indicating a PL RS update and determine the applicable time for applying the PL RS update based on one or more conditions. The applicable time may be a period after acknowledgement of the MAC-CE or correspond to a certain measurement sample of a new PL RS a period after acknowledgement of the MAC-CE. The one or more conditions may relate to a total configured number of PL RS for the UE, whether a MAC-CE based PL RS activation feature is enabled, among others.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for beamformed communications. In some aspects, when using beamformed communications, a first communications node and a second communications node may establish a beam pair link using a first beam. The first communications node may use a first set of beamforming weights at each antenna element of a set of antenna elements for transmissions of the first beam. After the beam pair is established, the first communications node may transmit multiple sounding signals using different subsets of the first set of antenna elements. A second communications node may measure the multiple sounding signals and use the measurements in scheduling one or more transmissions at the first communications node (e.g., to determine a modulation and coding scheme or coding rate), using one or more of the subsets of antenna elements.
