Abstract: Techniques for determining resources to use for peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are disclosed. In an aspect, a network entity may receive feedback information (e.g., resource usage information and/or channel state information) from P2P devices and may perform resource partitioning based on the feedback information to allocate some of the available resources for P2P communication. The allocated resources may observe little or no interference from devices engaged in wide area network (WAN) communication. In another aspect, P2P groups may perform resource negotiation via a WAN connection (e.g., with little or no involvement by the WAN) to assign the allocated resources to different P2P groups. In yet another aspect, a device may autonomously determine whether to communicate with another device directly or via a WAN, e.g., whether to initiate P2P communication with another device and whether to terminate P2P communication. In yet another aspect, a network entity may participate in resource negotiation by P2P devices.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes generating a first type of synchronization signal based at least in part on a first type of transmission in a shared radio frequency spectrum band, and generating a second type of synchronization signal based at least in part on a second type of transmission in the shared radio frequency spectrum band. The second type of synchronization signal is different from the first type of synchronization signal. A second method includes receiving a synchronization signal associated with a type of transmission in a shared radio frequency spectrum band; determining a type of the synchronization signal; and determining one or more cell parameters based at least in part on the synchronization signal.

Abstract: In the application of TDD and eIMTA to LTE in the unlicensed spectrum, various alterations may be needed to compensate for interference from and the behavior of RATs operating in this range of frequencies. Various UE and base station methods are presented, including modified TDD configurations and UE behaviors to advance operations on unlicensed spectrum. A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided whereby configuration information is conveyed to a UE for communicating on a carrier in the unlicensed spectrum. The configuration information indicates a subframe allocation for at least one frame on the unlicensed carrier. Other aspects are directed to the detection of the transmission, communication of new and modified eIMTA configuration transmissions, and mechanism and behaviors which address unreceived configuration information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for communication are described. Fast error recovery procedures may be employed that decrease latency for radio link control (RLC) data packet recovery during low latency operations. A device may detect a failed low latency transmission, and may activate a timer associated with the failed transmission. The device may generate a failure report if failed transmissions are not rescheduled; for example, if the timer expires before rescheduling. The failure report may be sent to an RLC entity of the device or to a medium access control (MAC) layer entity of the scheduler. In some cases, the device may maintain a list of non-terminated transmissions for high priority bearers.

Abstract: UE-aided channel selection within unlicensed frequency bands. A base station may communicate with UEs using LTE/LTE-A carrier waveforms (e.g., configured as a secondary cell) in the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may configure UEs for wide-band interference feedback for channels in the unlicensed frequency band. The measurements of wide-band signal strength may be performed by the UEs on channels for which the base station is not currently transmitting, or during silent periods of a configured secondary cell. The UEs may feedback an average total received power over a measurement bandwidth for one or more frequency channels of the unlicensed frequency band. The base station may receive the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs and identify potential frequency channels for channel selection for the secondary cell based on its own measurements of the candidate channels, and the wide-band signal strength feedback from the UEs.

Abstract: Techniques for estimating and reporting channel quality indicator (CQI) are disclosed. Neighboring base stations may cause strong interference to one another and may be allocated different resources, e.g., different subframes. A UE may observe different levels of interference on different resources. In an aspect, the UE may determine a CQI for resources allocated to a base station and having reduced or no interference from at least one interfering base station. In another aspect, the UE may determine multiple CQI for resources of different types and associated with different interference levels. For example, the UE may determine a first CQI based on at least one first subframe allocated to the base station and having reduced or no interference from the interfering base station(s). The UE may determine a second CQI based on at least one second subframe allocated to the interfering base station(s).

Abstract: Systems and methods providing radio resource management (RRM) to facilitate the co-existence of the neighboring cells, such as to manage radio resources for deployments utilizing a same frequency or overlapping frequencies, using discovery signal transmission are disclosed. Discovery signal transmission may be used to enable network elements of a wireless communication system to discover other network elements of the wireless communication system, whether such other network elements are operating with respect to a cell of a same or different operator. Transmission of discovery signals may be utilized to detect situations of dominant interference, whereby the network elements of neighboring cells may provide protected resources for each other. The protected resources may comprise particular frequencies, time slots, channels, etc.
