Abstract:
A backlighted electronic transmissive display assembly consistent with certain implementations has an electronic transmissive display panel that produces a visual display using light passing through the panel. A solar light collector collects sunlight. Light is received from the solar light collector and supplied as a backlight to the electronic transmissive display panel. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.
Abstract:
A displaying method for liquid crystal display, which has a light source integrated therein, includes the following steps: inputting a first video signal to the liquid crystal display during a first period of time and controlling the light source by means of modulating a light control signal; and inputting a second video signal to the liquid crystal display during a second period of time and controlling the light source by means of modulating the light control signal, wherein modulation modes of the light control signal are different during the first period of time and the second period of time.
Abstract:
A display device is constructed with conductive fibers which are coated with a display medium and are woven together with transparent conductive fibers. The conductive fibers coated with a display medium serve as warps and the transparent conductive fibers serve as wefts. The display device is not provided with an external electrode and is therefore flexible like plain cloth.
Abstract:
A circuit for automatically biasing a common electrode of a liquid crystal on silicon imager comprising an imager with a common electrode and a plurality of cells. A varying voltage signal is provided to the plurality of cells. A low pass filter is coupled between the varying voltage signal and a common junction coupled to the common electrode such that a bias voltage is formed at the common electrode having a value that approximates an average of the varying voltage signal.
Abstract:
A communication link is established with a packet-communications device. According to an example embodiment of the present invention, a network connection is established between the packet-communications and a server to pass data such as requests and responses, as well as files, media, streaming and other data. The network connection is a tunneled connection, facilitating the communication of data using a particular protocol that may be different from or otherwise incompatible with the data being communicated. The tunnel is divided into two or more logical communications channels, facilitating the multiplexing of data (e.g., request/response pairs) onto a single physical network connection.
Abstract:
Display systems, such as liquid crystal display systems (LCDs) that include light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as light sources are described. In certain embodiments, high-brightness LEDs are used to illuminate the display system, in combination with thermal management systems and other components described herein. The systems may be designed to use fewer numbers of LEDs for illumination while achieving a brightness comparable to, or exceeding, certain existing display systems of similar size.
Abstract:
An system is disclosed for driving a liquid crystal display for automatically adjusting a level of a common voltage at the point that a positive polarity gray scale level voltage and a negative polarity gray scale level voltage are supplied to a liquid crystal display panel.A plurality of gate lines and a plurality of data lines are provided at a liquid crystal display panel. A gate driver supplies a gate pulse to the plurality of gate lines. A data driver supplies a positive polarity gray scale level voltage and a negative polarity gray scale level voltage to the plurality of data lines. A controller controls a common voltage level supplied to the liquid crystal display panel in accordance with a supply point of a gate pulse. A common voltage supplier alternatively supplies a first and second common voltage defined as a division reference of the positive polarity gray scale level voltage and the negative polarity gray scale level voltage based on a control of the controller to the liquid crystal display panel.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a device for reducing power consumption in a display system using a diffractive optical modulator. The device includes a video input unit for receiving video signals, a noise elimination unit for eliminating noise from the video signals and then outputting noise-free video signals when the video signals are input from the video input unit, a drive signal control unit for outputting drive control signals for driving the diffractive optical modulator in response to the video signals input from the noise elimination unit, and a drive integrated circuit for outputting drive signals for driving the diffractive optical modulator and thus generating video images when the drive control signals of the diffractive optical modulator are input from the drive signal control unit.
Abstract:
Two-way displays include a transmissive display. A sensor detects an orientation of the transmissive display. A processor modifies a format of characters displayed on the transmissive display responsive to the orientation of the transmissive display. Mobile terminals including two-way displays and methods of operating the same are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention is an LCD display unit, including an LCD display having a predetermined number of segments, a drive unit that drives the LCD display, a control unit that controls the drive unit to display the display information on the LCD display, and an operation unit for selecting display information displayed on the LCD display. The control unit normally displays the display information in an abbreviated form on the LCD display. When the display information is selected based upon operation of the operation unit the selected display information is displayed in full text form on the LCD display. When the length of the character string of the display information displayed in full text form exceeds the display range of the LCD display the display information is displayed as scrolled.
