摘要: A method for coupling an energy supplying device to an energy consuming device in space and to a system including an energy supplying device, an energy consuming device and a mobile assembly unit residing in space. The energy supplying device is operable in space and includes solar panel units to convert received light into electrical energy, first coupling members to couple the solar panel units with each other, and a second coupling member to electrically couple the energy supplying device with the energy consuming device. The energy supplying device is configured to supply electrical energy to the energy consuming device in space. A configuration of the solar panel units is changeable in space according to an operational requirement of the energy consuming device.

摘要: An actuator for positioning a solar array to track the sun includes a motor and a single-stage cycloidal gearbox operatively coupled to the motor. The single-stage cycloidal gearbox includes a drive shaft rotationally coupled to the motor to rotate the drive shaft about a drive axis at a first input speed, an input gear coupled to and driven by the drive shaft, and an output gear configured to be engaged and driven by the input gear at a second output speed. The single-stage cycloidal gearbox is configured to reduce the first input speed to the second output speed within a single rotation of the drive shaft. The first speed is reduced to the second speed by a factor of at least 60 within the single rotation of the drive shaft.

The regulated HVDC bus may be configured to supply power to a high voltage load. The first plurality of power sources may comprise a first solar array, a first supercapacitor, and/or a first battery.

摘要: A modular space vehicle chassis may facilitate convenient access to internal components of the space vehicle. Each module may be removable from the others such that each module may be worked on individually. Multiple panels of at least one of the modules may swing open or otherwise be removable, exposing large portions of the internal components of the space vehicle. Such chassis architectures may reduce the time required for and difficulty of performing maintenance or modifications, may allow multiple space vehicles to take advantage of a common chassis design, and may further allow for highly customizable space vehicles.

The power distribution system may include a power source and a plurality of power channels. The power channels may distribute power from the power source to a plurality of systems in the small form factor satellite flight system. A processor may monitor power availability of the power source. The processor may also collect housekeeping information of the plurality of systems in the small form factor satellite flight system. The processor may regulate the power channels based on the power availability and the housekeeping information.

摘要: A modular satellite for converting solar energy to microwave energy and transmitting the microwave energy to the earth to be converted into electricity includes solar panels configured to convert solar energy into direct current; a magnetron operatively connected to the solar panels to receive the direct current and configured to convert the direct current into microwave energy; a planar wave guide antenna operatively connected to the magnetron to receive the microwave energy and direct the microwave energy to a station on earth; and a coupling system for coupling with another satellite to form an array in response to at least one of locking, unlocking, and navigational commands. The satellite has a mass equal to or less than four kilograms, and a volume equal to or less than three liters.
