    摘要: An inclined rolling stand for reducing a starting material to a pipe or rod, which includes a roll carrier adapted to be driven and to permit a central passage of the material to be rolled. The roll carrier includes three conical substantially identical and axially adjustable working rolls which are adapted to be driven and are inclined relative to the rolling axis at the same acute angle. The three working rolls are offset relative to each other around the rolling axis by 120.degree. and are so directed with regard to the rolling axis that their extended axes respectively cross the rolling axis at the same short distances while the narrow ends of the conical working rolls respectively include a smoothing zone representing a surface of rotation about the axis of the respective working roll. The respective mantle line of the surface of rotation representing the smoothing zone is so concave that the respective concave mantle line contacting the material to be rolled, when rotating about the material to be rolled, forms the mantle surface of an imaginary cylindrical body.

    摘要: A toggle mechanism pinches a metal tube and maintains the tube in a pinched condition, without fracturing. The toggle mechanism includes a plunger translatable along a longitudinal axis, as well as a pair of links pivoted about a common axis extending through an end of the plunger. One of the links also pivots about a fixed axis. A free end of the other link carries a push link which the other link translates at right angles to the plunger longitudinal axis. First and second sides of the tube bear against a first stop block and are engaged by the push link when a compresson spring, attached to the plunger, is suddenly released to irreversibly drive the plunger along its longitudinal axis so the pivot point of the two links is driven to an over travel position. At over travel, the free end of the push link and the stop block abut against opposite sides of the tube to pinch them together. A second stop block limits the plunger motion so that there is only slight over travel of the links and the push link remains abutted against the tube to continue to pinch the tube.

    摘要: An improved method of manufacturing a strut member for use in a strut device of the drum brake, having two strut members and a connecting member provided with a threaded portion for linking both, to function as an adjustor of the shoe clearance. This manufacturing method comprises as least the following two processes: (a) forming a flat plate-like portion partially on a length of a tube while producing a through bore therein as a displaced space, by inserting a mandrel substantially concentrically into a tube material, pressing or squeezing a portion of the tube in the diametrical direction in such a manner that the inside of the tube is pressed onto the mandrel for producing the displaced space therein, after retracting the mandrel until the inside surface of the tube at upper and lower portion thereof on either side of the displaced space closely contact to each other; and (b) forming a cut-out, ranging from the extremity of the tube to a part of the flattened portion, such that the through bore can have the opening thereof at the bottom of the cut-out to be able to engage with the web portion of a brake shoe.

    摘要: A method of producing a hermetically sealed, preferably sphere-shaped end in a tubular workpiece, residing, according to the invention, in that an end of a tubular workpiece is heated to a forging temperature and is then reduced until a portion is obtained with a diameter equal to that of a sphere to be obtained. Afterwards, a semi-sphere is subjected to spinning applied to the end of said reduced portion until a hermetically sealed end is formed. This is followed by spinning of a necking portion until a sphere is obtained, the spinning of the constricted portion being carried out as starting from the conjugating line running between the semi-sphere obtained and the reduced portion along the sphere generatrix towards the main portion of the workpiece.

    摘要: A device for use by plumbers and the like to compress the end of a length of hollow metal tubing such as a copper water pipe which has been expanded to a size greater than its normal diameter. The device allows such tubing to be compressed back to its normal diameter. A manually operable cam causes a hollow sleeve to move back and forth. The sleeve in turn causes a plurality of die members to move inwardly when the cam is activated. The sleeve is provided with a sloping inner surface and each of the plurality of die members is provided with a sloping outer surface having substantially the same angle of slope as the inner surface of the sleeve so that when the sleeve is moved by the cam, the plurality of die members will be uniformly forced inwardly to compress the end of a length of tubing inserted therebetween in a straight, uniform manner.

    摘要: Annular articles are produced by cold extruding a tubular ductile cast iron piece through a female die to desirably change the shape of at least an axial portion of the piece. The invention is based on the discovery that the nodular carbon content of ductile cast iron, amounting to, e.g., 10-12% by volume, represents voids of no structural strength in the metal and aids in working the metal in the cold, without damage, to that extent required for extrusion. Application of an extrusion load adequate to bring the metal to the yield point results in all of the metal in the die exhibiting plastic flow. Since the metal is in an annular configuration of decreasing diameter during extrusion, it is subjected to large hoop compression forces which cause the carbon modules to flatten and be arranged in planes which, in the case of an article of circular transverse cross section, are substantially radial relative to the extrusion axis. The iron grains are similarly reshaped and oriented. The extruded articles have increased longitudinal tensile strength and hardness, but ductility is restored by heat treatment.
