The present invention relates to a timepiece movement allowing the arrangement of the various displays to be varied. The movement according to the invention comprises a first module provided both with a first frame and with at least one first wheel assembly mounted rotatably on the first frame, a second module provided both with a second frame and with at least one second wheel assembly mounted rotatably on the second frame, which first and second wheel assemblies are connected kinematically together, positioning means, and, connected to the first and second frames, means for fixing the modules to each other. The positioning means are positioned concentrically with the axis of rotation of either the first or second wheel assembly and are arranged so as to allow relative positioning of the two modules in a plurality of angular positions with reference to the axis of rotation of the wheel assembly with which the positioning means are concentric. According to the invention, either the first or second module is a going-train module (80) comprising a going train and an escape wheel (86), and one of the different wheel assemblies of the going train or the escape wheel (86) may form either the first or said second wheel assembly, while the other of said first and second modules is an escapement-supporting module (87) comprising a lever (89) which may form the other of said two wheel assemblies.

A timekeeping mechanism, such as a watch or a clock, is provided with a face and a single hand of predetermined length for designating both hours and minutes of time mounted for rotation at the center of the face. A first array of indicia, such as numbers corresponding to hours of time is arranged in an inner circular ring about the center of the face to delineate hourly time intervals. The radius of this inner ring is less than the length of the single hour and minute hand. In addition, indicia corresponding to minutes within an hour are arranged in an outer circular ring on the face in repetitive sets that each reside within the angular hourly intervals. The sets of indicia of minutes are located at a uniform distance from the center of the face corresponding to the length of the single hand. By visually following the indicia at which the single hand is aligned a user is able to ascertain the current time with the hour being designated by the aligned indicia in the inner ring and with the minutes of time past that hour being designated by the indicia in the outer ring.

A clock mechanism including a fixed ring defining an inner annular surface and an outer annular surface. An hours disc is disposed to roll against one of the surfaces so as to traverse the full annular extent thereof once every twelve hours. A minute disc is disposed to roll against the other of the annular surfaces so as to traverse the full annular extent thereof once every hour. In the illustrated embodiment, the discs define planet gears, with the hours planet gear being driven by an hours sun gear so as to roll against the inner ring gear of the fixed ring. The minutes disc defines a planet gear driven by an outer ring gear to roll against the outer minute sun gear defined by the outer annular surface of the fixed ring. The fixed ring may be provided with suitable indicia to define a chapter ring.
