Abstract:
An access ladder assembly for an agricultural machine having a body with an elevated operator's station. The ladder assembly includes a ladder that is mounted to the frame of the machine by a pivot mechanism that allows the ladder to be moved in either rotational direction about both a generally horizontal axis and a generally vertical axis. A locking mechanism releasably holds the ladder in an angularly adjusted position about both of these axes. A release mechanism conveniently located relative to the operator's station controls operation of the locking mechanism. The ladder assembly further includes rail structure carried by the ladder and movable about a generally vertical axis to either of two adjusted positions.
Abstract:
A construction for use in storing of a ladder above an emergency vehicle during times of non-usage which is automatically movable to a retrieval position extending laterally outwardly from an emergency vehicle to facilitate removal of equipment therefrom such as a ladder. A boom is movable through an approximate 90 degree arc and when in the upright position is capable of being latched in place by a latching mechanism having a latching arm formed of a switching segment being capable of abutment with a limit switch and a locking segment adapted to engage a latching lug fixedly secured to the boom for retaining the apparatus in the upright position. The boom is operated by a primary hydraulic drive cylinder and the latching apparatus is driven by a secondary drive apparatus which includes an axially extensible coupling to facilitate latching of the boom in a storage position.
Abstract:
An access device, such as a ladder, which is retractable, to provide access between a first position, and a second (retracted) position. The access device (5) is provided with a pair of arms (8) and (9) each pivotally connected at pivots (10) and (11) to a support means, (4) and, to the access member at pivots (12) and (13). The device is configured such that the access member (5) may be retracted while maintaining the second end (7) of the access member (5) elevated relative to the first end (6) of the access member (5). The arms (8) and (9) are pivotally mounted each preferably provided with one or two dogleg bends therein, to facilitate a totally retracted storage position.
Abstract:
There is provided an aerial ladder truck having suitable means whereby obstacles such as ice and snow to the rolling movement of the ladder extending and contracting rollers and lifter raising and lowering rollers on ladder guide rails are scraped off as the unit ladders are extended and contracted and the lifter is raised and lowered.
Abstract:
Access equipment for fire fighting purposes including an articulated boom structure having two booms, the structure being mounted on a turntable attached to a vehicle, each boom having ladder means extending along its length, a further ladder being telescopically extendible from either end selectively of the outermost boom of the boom structure to extend the reach of the equipment for any operative position of the booms.
