Abstract:
A system for heat-shrinking a film onto an open-topped container is provided, including at least one reflective cup having a reflective interior surface, and at least one radiant energy source. The reflective cup and the radiant energy source may be rotationally mounted. The interior surface of the reflective cup has as least an elliptical portion and a parabolic portion.
Abstract:
The embossing rolls of embossing devices serving for the treatment of two-dimensionally extending materials, preferably in the packaging industry, may be made exchangeable if they are disposed in suitable interchangeable units. An interchangeable unit may e.g. take the form of a sleeve having its ends provided with fitting surfaces. The mount of an embossing device comprises corresponding seats which are very precisely adapted to the actual interchangeable unit. In the inserted condition, i.e. when the fitting surfaces of the retaining elements are inserted in the associated seats, the embossing roll contained in an exchangeable unit is thus placed in its operational position without requiring any further adjusting operations. Particularly the driven embossing roll of such an embossing device is thus substantially less complicated to exchange, thereby allowing quick maintenance and production changeovers.
Abstract:
For coding (cigarette) packs (10) in the region of a conveyor, in particular in the region of a (drying) turret (34). A region of an outer pack surface, in particular of a side surface (14), is exposed during the coding. For this purpose, it is possible for the conveying elements of the conveyor to be arranged or designed correspondingly and/or for the walls (42) of the conveyor pockets (33) to be dimensioned correspondingly. Alternatively, the packs (10) are removed from the conveyor, or moved out of the pockets (33), into the region of action of a laser coder (19).
Abstract:
Method for marking an object where the object is placed in a package whereby a pattern in said package is caused to make a marking in said object. Objects being marked with the above method. The invention is especially useful for marking solid or semi-solid formulations of drugs, candy and food-stuff. Specifically the invention is useful to mark nicotine-containing chewing gums. Other solid or semi-solid objects can equally well be marked using the present invention.
Abstract:
A drug filling machine having a plurality of feeders containing a plurality of different kinds of drugs. A plurality of the drugs are discharged from one or some of the feeders into a vial. A sealing unit is provided for sealing the mouth of the vial with a transparent sheet. The sealing unit includes a sheet presser for pushing the transparent sheet into the mouth of the vial to form a sealing sheet having a tray-shaped section, a cutter for cutting the transparent sheet into a predetermined shape, and a heater for fusing the transparent sheet to the top end of the vial to seal the mouth of the vial. A method of inspecting the drugs contained in the vial includes preparing the transparent sheet a sealing portion for covering the mouth of the vial, and a printed portion that protrudes outwardly of the mouth of the vial. After inspecting the drugs in the vial, the printed portion is separated from the sealing portion, and a cap is secured on the mouth of the vial.
Abstract:
A system and a method are provided for detecting a bag that has been subjected to a process, such as illumination, wherein the contents of the bag require processing before subsequent use. The system (1) has a drawer (10) on which one or more bags may be placed and properly oriented. Punches (22) are provided for punching slugs from the bag indicative of a status of the processing of the bag. The punches (22) are aligned with die apertures (26) of a die (24) and corresponding punch apertures (20) through the drawer (10). The bag may include polarizing materials (50) such that the status of the processing of the bag (52) may be sensed. To this end, a rotating polarizing piece (70) is provided as well as a light source (34) and a sensor (38). The polarities between the polarizing piece (50) of the bag and the rotating polarizing piece (70) is monitored by the sensor (38) to indicate a condition or status of the processing of the bag and/or to further indicate tampering taking place in the process.

Abstract:
A packaging coding system including at least one roll of moisture-activated adhesive-backed tape with a top side and an underside and two lateral edges, and a layer of moisture-activated adhesive applied to the underside of the tape. The tape has oil absorbed into one or both lateral edges to provide flexibility, waterproofing, and a vapor barrier to prevent activation of the adhesive when the tape is rolled up and at least one colored ink applied to at least one edge of the tape in a predetermined discrete position which serves to code the tape.
Abstract:
Method for angularly positioning an axially asymmetrical sealing device relative to a flexible tube for dispensing a substance with a liquid-to-pasty consistency. A neck of the tube supports the sealing device and dispenses the substance through a dispensing channel. The tube is provided with indicia relative to which the sealing device is located on the tube. The tube is adapted to be filled via its open bottom with the sealing device in place and then sealed by flattening and heat sealing its end opposite the neck. The tube also includes at least one reference marking and the sealing device is located on the tube relative to the reference marking, this reference marking being printed on the tube concurrently with the indicia. The reference marking is also used when squeezing and heat sealing the open end of the filled tube.
