摘要: Disclosed is a safety lancet assembly configured to pierce a patient's skin. The safety lancet comprises a housing and a lancet disposed with the housing. The lancet includes both a block and a piercing tip attached to the block. The lancet is disposed within the housing such that the lancet may move from a retracted position to the piercing position. Additionally, the safety lancet includes a use indicator to alert a user or patient if the lancet is currently in the retracted position or if the lancet has been previously released to the piercing position.

摘要: A personal portable painless lancing device and a blood glucose meter using the same, which can lance at the minimum without any pain and use it to measure the blood glucose. The minimum painless lancing device using an Er:YAG laser includes an Er:YAG laser beam-generating section in which the laser beam is generated to punch skin and radiated in a single direction; an adapter installed at the front end of the Er:YAG laser beam-generating section so that the laser beam can be locally concentrated on a skin punch portion; a skin adhesion cap installed at the front end of the adapter so that it can be easily detached, and can reduce the contamination of the Er:YAG laser beam-generating section, which is produced at the time of the lancing, and the danger due to the reuse of it among the patients of lancing; and a case to accommodate the Er:YAG laser beam-generating section and the adapter therein.

摘要: There is provided the pricking device that allows it to load the unspent lancet assembly into the injector, and that inhibits loading of the unspent lancet assembly into the injector. The pricking device has the notched portion formed on the edge of the opening end of the lancet holder, and the plate spring component is provided on the inner wall of the housing of the injector. One end of the plate spring component is secured to the injector housing, whereas the other end of plate spring component is free end, and the tip end portion of the free end being provided with the hook-shaped portion. In the spent lancet assembly, the notched portion engages with the hook-shaped portion so that the loading becomes impossible. In the unspent lancet assembly in which the lancet body is secured to the lancet holder such that the protrusion of the lancet body is located rearward with respect to the notched portion, the protrusion serves to expand the free end outwardly so that the notched portion does not engage with the hook-shaped portion. As a result, the unspent lancet assembly can be inserted into the injector.

摘要: A system for collecting a whole blood sample includes a fill port (32), a metering chamber (72), a gasket or seal (16) and a reservoir (74). The gasket or seal (16) is positioned to a fill position, and a sample of whole blood is received in the metering chamber (72) until the metering chamber (72) is full. Then the seal (16) is moved to a closed position, thereby moving blood from the metering chamber (72) to the reservoir (74) and also sealing the reservoir (74). The seal (16), metering chamber (72) and fill port (32) together define a passageway at least a portion of which is coated with an anticoagulant. A diluting liquid contained in the reservoir (74) is mixed with the whole blood to dilute and stabilize the whole blood in the reservoir (74) for later analysis of one or more selected blood components.

摘要: In a method of preparing a plasma sample, blood from a donor is placed in the inner of two concentric tubes which are releasably connected together. The outer sample tube is labelled with data relating to the blood sample. After the concentric sample tubes have been centrifuged to separate out plasma from the blood, the outer tube is disconnected from the inner tube so that plasma can be poured into the outer tube. The outer tube, which carries the label, is then retained for analysis. As an alternative to centrifuging, a leakage path which is permeable to plasma but not blood cells can be provided at the base of the inner tube and plasma forced into the outer tube by application of external pressure.
