摘要: When a reprint of a picture which has been printed once and stored as picture image data is requested under a different condition, the reprint can be generated without carrying out rereading of a film. When film reading for generating a print is carried out, as much information showing the content of the picture image is recorded on the film as possible. This includes information which is not necessary for generating the requested print. It is stored as a portion of the picture image data. In this manner, even when a reprint under a condition different from the previous printing is requested, the print can be generated by reading necessary content from the stored picture image data.

摘要: In an arrangement in which an image captured by photography is recorded on new-type photographic film having an information recording zone for magnetically recording information relating to the film or frames on the film, information concerning the aspect ratio of the image is exploited in an effective manner and the aspect ratio is capable of being altered at will. The image recorded on the new-type photographic film and the aspect ratio information in the information recording zone are read by a film scanner. Original digital image data obtained by the reading operation, length X and width Y of the image and effective image size data (length A and width B) generated from the aspect ratio information are recorded on a floppy disk or optical disk by a disk device. When an original image represented by the original digital image data obtained from the floppy or optical disk is displayed, the size thereof is made that stipulated by the effective image size. The data representing the effective image size on the disk are rewritten in response to an entered alteration command.

摘要: A medium testing method capable of testing a WORM (Write Once Read Memory) type optical disk efficiently and accurately, and a system for practicing the method. A playback unit plays back a disk to output a radio frequency (RF) signal representative of data stored therein. As the RF signal is routed through an RF amplifier to an error detecting unit, the detecting unit decodes the signal frame by frame and detects correctable errors and uncorrectable errors while correcting the errors of each frame. A track information detecting unit reads track information out of lead-in areas and outputs them. An error processing unit determines gaps between consecutive tracks by calculation on the basis of the track information. Subsequently, the error processing unit removes errors lying in the gaps from the error information received from the error detecting unit. Consequently, only the errors lying in the areas storing valid data, as distinguished from the gaps between tracks and gaps between sessions, are used to evaluate the disk. This allows only the substantial defects of the optical disk to be detected. The result of the test is written to an exclusive storage.
