Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for enabling user equipment (UE) mobility within an area. In one aspect, a base station (BS) may configure a set of cells for serving a UE, as well as a set of relay UEs to relay communications for the UE, for example via sidelink communications. The BS may transmit control signaling to the UE indicating the configured set of cells and the set of relay UEs. The UE may establish communications links via sidelink connections with one or more of the relay UEs, and determine an activated subset of cells for data and control transfer. In some implementations, the UE may be configured to autonomously activate or deactivate relay UEs based on the mobility of the UE, and report the activation or deactivation to the BS.

The first reservation signal includes a first waveform sequence identifying at least a first network operating entity of the plurality of network operating entities associated with the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device, a first communication signal in the spectrum during the TXOP.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method includes identifying that the user equipment (UE) is to use a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure that includes a first message (e.g., uplink request message) and a second message (e.g., downlink response). The methods include sending, as a first message of the two-step RACH procedure, the uplink request message to a base station, receiving, from the base station, a physical downlink control channel comprising an indication of resources of a broadcast or multicast physical downlink shared channel on which the downlink response is to be received, and receiving the downlink response from the base station on the broadcast or multicast physical downlink shared channel. The physical downlink shared channel may be configured to provide downlink responses for one or multiple UEs.

The method also includes communicating on an uplink using the first set of resources.

Abstract: A data structure for managing user equipment communications in a wireless communication system is presented. In some examples, the data structure may include one or more resource element blocks into which a frequency bandwidth of a downlink channel is divided within a symbol that defines a transmission time interval in a downlink subframe. Furthermore, the data structure may include a control region and a data region within at least one resource element block of the one or more resource element blocks. Additionally, the data structure may include a downlink resource grant, located within the control region, for a user equipment served by the downlink channel. In an additional aspect, a network entity and method for generating the example data structure are provided.

Abstract: Technology-specific listen before talk (LBT) parameter adjustments are disclosed for common energy detection (ED) thresholds. Some of the technologies sharing access to the same shared communication spectrum include additional access deferral procedures. Such technologies may be configured with additional compensating features to increase the likelihood of fairness in spectrum access across all technologies sharing a common ED threshold. Such additional compensating features may include a reduced contention window size relative to the technologies that do not include such additional access deferral procedures, increased maximum channel occupancy times (COTs) for longer transmissions, and the like. Each such additional compensating feature may be available under different circumstances, such as always available or available in response to the node activating one of the additional access deferral procedures. Additionally, such additional compensating features may, once initiated, be active and available for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit to a user equipment (UE) a control signal comprising a grant for a downlink transmission. The base station may perform, during a gap between the control signal and the downlink transmission, a clear channel assessment (CCA) procedure on a shared radio frequency spectrum band associated with the downlink transmission. The base station may perform, based at least in part on a success of the CCA procedure, the downlink transmission to the UE over the shared radio frequency spectrum band.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify uplink (UL) control information (UCI) to transmit during a subframe. The UE may then select a UL channel on which to transmit the UCI based on whether a shared data and control UL channel employs contention-based scheduling. For example, multiple UEs could contend for access to the same semi-persistently scheduled (SPS) physical UL shared channel (PUSCH). Each UE may utilize a different demodulation reference (DMRS) signal cyclic shift to identify their transmissions. In some cases, some UCI, such as channel state information (CSI), may be transmitted on a contention-based PUSCH, while other UCI, such as acknowledgement information, may be transmitted on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). In some cases, the channel selection may be based on a configuration received from a base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques performed at a user equipment (UE) provide for communicating directly with a base station using a first set of antennas and communicating indirectly with the base station (e.g., via a wireless node, a remote radio head, etc.) using a second set of antennas to fully exploit the potential capabilities of the physical antennas at the UE. For downlink communications, a UE may receive at least a subset of downlink signals from a base station via a wireless node, and, for uplink communications, the UE may transmit at least a subset of uplink signals to the base station via a wireless node. To facilitate these techniques, the UE may configure the wireless node to forward downlink signals received from the base station to the UE or to forward uplink signals received from the UE to the base station.
