    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, and relate to a base station to communicating with a user equipment (UE) over a channel. A first device (for example, the base station or the UE) may use a trained neural network to estimate one or more link performance metrics associated with the channel. Predicting the link level performance may include determining one or more neural network weights associated with one or more input parameters associated with the channel to estimate the one or more link performance metrics. The first device may report feedback to the second device based on the estimated link performance metrics. Based on the feedback, the second device may adapt the link by adjusting channel parameters to improve the reliability or efficacy of later transmissions.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may multiplex reference signal (RS) transmissions for different antenna ports over a set of resource elements using a code division multiplexing (CDM) group spreading in a time dimension and a frequency dimension. The base station may transmit the RS transmissions over the set of resource elements based at least in part on the multiplexing to a user equipment (UE). The UE may demultiplex the RS transmissions based at least in part on a CDM group and may select at least one of the time dimension or the frequency dimension over which to demultiplex the RS transmissions based on a determination or other information.

    Abstract: A machine-learning based multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) demapper for a wireless device may include a classifier that selects which MIMO demapper to use for a sample for a particular tone. For example, a wireless device may receive via a plurality of antennas a plurality of signals including a plurality of tones. The wireless device may determine selection features for each tone of the plurality of tones. The wireless device may select, for each tone, by the classifier based on the selection features, a selected demapper from at least a first MIMO demapper and a second MIMO demapper. The second MIMO demapper may have a different performance characteristic than the first MIMO demapper. The wireless device may detect, for each tone, one or more streams using the selected demapper for the tone. A stream may refer to a sequence of bits.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for sounding reference signal (SRS) coordination, power control, and synchronization for distributed coordinated multipoint (CoMP) using communications systems operating according to new radio (NR) technologies. For example, a method for wireless communications by a network entity includes determining a first amount of transmission (Tx) power for transmission of signals originating from a first cluster center that is connected to the network entity, determining a second amount of Tx power for transmission of signals originating from at least a second cluster center that is connected to the network entity, and transmitting signals for one or more user equipment (UEs) served by the first cluster center and one or more UEs served by the second cluster center based on the first amount of Tx power and the second amount of Tx power.

    Abstract: A base station may determine a Doppler metric associated with a wireless channel and a user equipment (UE). The Doppler metric may be determined from received information related to Doppler effects measured by the UE or from directly measured Doppler effects associated with uplink data received from the UE. Based on the determined Doppler metric, the base station may select one or both of a reference signal (RS) density and a channel estimation technique for the wireless channel and associated UE. The base station may transmit an indication of the RS density to the UE. Downlink data bursts and uplink data bursts may include RSs and data according to the indicated RS density. Further, the base station may transmit to the UE, an indication to communicate using the selected wireless channel estimation technique.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a precoded reference signal to prevent interference with an incoming signal from a base station. The UE may determine a precoder for the reference signal based at least in part on a whitening matrix. In some examples, the UE may determine the precoder based at least in part on the whitening matrix and an effective channel between the base station and the UE. The precoded reference signal may be used by devices in other wireless communications systems to avoid interfering with a signal being received by the UE. In some examples, the UE may alternatively or additionally transmit an indication of the number of additional layers of the link between the UE and the base station that may be nulled out for a second link.
