摘要： A feedback control system modifies a drive signal to a plant which provides an achieved response signal in response to the drive signal. A first summing element provides a response error signal representing the difference between a desired response signal and the achieved response signal. An adaptive filter adjusts the response error signal in accordance with a dynamic behavior of the adaptive filter to provide a drive correction signal, the dynamic behavior being adjusted by a compensation device in response to the drive signal and the achieved response signal. A second summing element provides a corrected drive signal representing the sum of the drive signal and the drive correction signal. A storage device delays the corrected drive signal and a converter generates the drive signal during the next iteration as a function of the delayed corrected drive signal.

摘要： A locking device 100 is inserted within the disk drive (11) of a personal computer ("PC") 12 to prevent unauthorized use thereof. The locking device (100) includes a pair of pivoted plates (101, 102) retained in their expanded locking position within the disk drive (11) by means of an externally-accessible padlock (107) or its equivalent. Each of the plates (101, 102) carries a spring finger (109) which "bites" into the adjacent respective side rail (26) in the event that an attempt is made to remove the locking device (100). The locking device (100) is inserted into the disk drive (11) in a one-handed operation and in its locked position. In another embodiment, a key-operated lock is carried on one of the pivoted plates.

摘要： A shock load detection device mounted on a disk drive unit. The detection device is comprised of a piezoelectric polymer film encapsulated and electrically shielded by a metallic or metallic coated package. Electrical contacts are provided for on the piezoelectric polymer film and are connected to amplification and comparator circuitry which issues a write fault signal upon detection of external force in excess of a predetermined threshold. The shock sensor may be mounted on the computer disk drive of the unit in such a manner as to be at a 45.degree. angle to each of the x, y and z axis of the orthogonal coordinate system so that linear and torsional forces may be monitored.

摘要： A door forming a part of a closure assembly is attached to the frame of the closure assembly by engaging bifurcated branches of a pivot arm with a pivot shaft. One of the branches is extended to engage a curved leaf spring which is deformed as the door and the extension is pivoted about the shaft. The deformation of the spring is instrumental in exerting a force on the extension to detent the door in the closed position and the extension may disengage from the spring surface when in the open position. To further stabilize the door, a stabilizer is formed on the back of the door and it engages the end of a recessed channel in the assembly, at a point coincident with the pivot axis of the door.

摘要： The invention is an interlocking lockout device for a computer system. The lockout device comprises a locking disk dimensioned similarly to a floppy disk for so that it can be inserted and locked into a disk-drive. An engagement member of the locking disk interlocks with a bezel. In a locked position, the bezel covers the disk-drive preventing the locking disk from being removed from the disk-drive and preventing foreign matter from being inserted into the computer and disk-drive. While inserted, the locking disk keeps the computer system from booting and thereby prevents unauthorized operation of the computer system. The bezel and locking disk are adaptable on any size disk-drive and can easily be installed on different systems. This provides a lockout capability for computer systems with multiple drives and variable sized disks.

摘要： Apparatus for preventing unwanted access to a disk drive is disclosed. A housing has a surface adapted to overlie the slot, an internal piston chamber extending inwardly from one end of the housing, and a lock receiving chamber intersecting the piston chamber immediate the ends of the housing. A fixed latch member extends outwardly from one end of the housing, and is provided with a lip at its distal end. A movable latch member is attached to a piston located in the piston chamber and projects outwardly parallel to the fixed latch member. The movable latch member has a lip at its distal end extending outwardly so that the lips of the respective latch member extend away from one another. The piston is movable inwardly with respect to the housing so that the latch members can be inserted into the disk drive slot, and thereafter the piston moves outwardly so that the lips of the latch members engage the corners of the slot. A lock mechanism is located in the lock receiving chamber of the housing. The lock mechanism has a hasp movable from an unlocking position and a locking position which locks the latch members in engagement with the slot.
