    Abstract: This invention, the Pneumatic Launcher, is an improved, compressed inert gas powered, launching system for the airborne delivery of soft promotional items to persons in an arena or stadium environment. It is manually operable by one person. Receiving its power from a tank of compressed inert gas (usually nitrogen) fitted with a regulator and a three way manifold with two air lines and a relief valve, the unit has two hoses attached to its rear housing plate. One line fills the accumulator tank while the auxiliary line insures the pneumatic trigger always has gas pressure to complete the firing cycle. A ball valve of 11/2 or larger releases the volume of gas from the accumulator tank quickly and completely, much more so than solenoid operated valves by virtue of the pneumatic air ram mechanism attached to the valve stem by a balanced cam type "T" shaped handle assembly. The released gas is channeled through a 180.degree. curved tube into an expansion chamber that uses thin metal vanes to spin the gas as it approaches the barrel, thus allowing the lightest of objects to overcome air drag as best possible upon exiting the barrel. The loading and firing movements of the Pneumatic Launcher can be performed with one hand while the other, with the use of a shoulder strap, supports and balances the unit. As the handle on the sliding breach cover is moved forward, the barrel is tilted down for safety during loading, and as the handle is pulled back the barrel tilts up into normal ruing position. As the operator's hand moves to the firing button, the opening in the housing allows for a firm grip in a central balanced position on the unit so that final aiming can be quickly achieved. The Pneumatic Launcher can put a beverage insulator in a 12" circle at 50 feet or a soft ball in a 36" circle at 250 feet under normal circumstances.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety mechanism for multi-shot air guns having a main housing, a barrel, a launch port located at the barrel of the main housing and adapted for air pressure connection to an aligned nozzle and having a pressurization mechanism and a release for releasing pressure from the launch port to an aligned nozzle and having a multi-shot projectile magazine capable of having one nozzle aligned with the launch port and being advanceable to provide sequential alignments of nozzles for firings of a plurality of projectiles. Each nozzle includes an impediment member contained therein. The safety mechanism includes one or more valves connected to either the launch port or each of the nozzles, to prevent flow of pressurized air into the nozzles when closed and to allow flow of pressurized air when opened; a biasing device for biasing the valve to a closed position; an opening device movably located within the nozzle. This has a first position when a projectile is not located in the nozzle, corresponding to the valve being closed, and has a second position when a projectile is located in the nozzle and fitted to the impediment member, corresponding to the valve being opened.

    Abstract: A rapid fire ball gun includes a hollow body supporting a pressurizable air vessel and an air pump coupled thereto through a check valve. An elongated cylindrical barrel is supported by the body and defines a cylindrical ball chamber having a plurality of spaced intermediate fields forming ball spaces therebetween and a final seal at the extending end of the cylindrical barrel. A plurality of compressible foam balls are received within the ball spaces between the intermediate seals with the outermost ball being received in a ball spaced defined between the final seal and the most forward intermediate seal. The cylindrical barrel is coupled to the pressurizable air vessel by a trigger valve mechanism which responds to trigger pressure by coupling the pressurized air within the air vessel to the barrel thereby expelling one or more of the compressible foam balls from the barrel.

    Abstract: A gun can be powered by a cartridge of pressurized gas or by pressurized air. The gun includes a valve body which provides a pressure reservoir for storing pressurized gas or air. When the gun is fired, pressurized gas or air is discharged from the pressure reservoir and propels a projectile out of the barrel of the gun. An air pump is mounted on the gun for supplying pressurized air to the pressure reservoir. An adapter assembly is mounted on the gun for holding a cartridge of compressed gas. The adapter assembly includes an adapter housing and a plunger which is slidably mounted in the adapter housing. The plunger is movable between a sealing position in which the plunger sealingly engages the adapter housing and an exhaust position in which pressurized gas or air from the pressure reservoir can flow out of the adapter housing. The plunger is maintained in the sealing position by a gas cartridge or by a plug which can be screwed into the adapter housing. A check valve in the plunger permits pressurized gas to flow through the plunger into the pressure reservoir but prevents pressurized gas or air to flow from the pressure reservoir through the plunger.

    Abstract: There is herein disclosed a pneumatic gun of the type having an air storage chamber selectively connectable to a firing chamber by a valve. The valve is movable between a closed position and an open position by a trigger actuated control lever. The control lever is movable between cocked and uncocked positions by a manually slidable bolt and is latched in a cocked position by a spring loaded trigger having a latching finger in constant abutting engagement with the control lever.
