摘要: An improved user input device is disclosed whereby the device is equipped with a trackball in addition to other control devices, such as an analog stick controller (e.g., thumbstick or joystick). The trackball is mounted in such a way that it projects both upwardly and downwardly from the device body in the vertical plane. The user is able to touch and use the trackball from both the upper and lower directions. In a preferred embodiment, the trackball is clickable, affording greater control and ease of use.

摘要: A game console determines if a hard disk drive is authorized for use with the game console by analyzing an encrypted certificate. The encrypted certificate is stored in memory of the drive. Upon detection of the drive, the game console receives the encrypted certificate and decrypts it. The certificate contains parameters relating to the drive, such as the drives serial number, model number, memory capacity of the drive, and a trademark indicative of the drive's authenticity, for example. The game console also receives these parameters from the drive in unencrypted form. The parameters extracted from the encrypted certificate are compared with the parameters read from the hard disk drive's memory. If the parameters match, the drive is determined to be authentic. The certificate is encrypted with the private key of a public-private key pair and decrypted with the corresponding public key in accordance with well known public-key cryptographic techniques.

摘要: A game has the potential for multiple levels. Each level comprises a symbol matching event in which a set of base symbols are compared against a set of game symbol for potential matches. If a required minimum number of matches or another event is realized, the game may continue to the next level. The game symbols may be displayed in rows, such as rows of a matrix having m rows by n columns. The base symbols may then be displayed in a row having n positions, where the base symbol in an individual nth position is compared to the corresponding game symbol in the same nth position. The game may be played as a wagering game offering awards for individual symbol matches or matches of patterns of symbols in the matrix. The game may include additional features such as wild symbols, automatic advance features and mystery bonuses.

An annunciator is controlled by the controller to be activated when a bill acceptance rate of the controller drops below a predetermined threshold.

摘要: A gaming device including a game which displays a plurality of symbols to a player. A probability of being selected by the processor is associated with each of the symbols. Additionally, at least two picks of the symbols are provided to the player where the number of picks is less than the number of symbols. In a game, the processor randomly picks the symbols for the number of picks provided to the player. The player receives any awards associated with the symbols picked by the processor. The processor then eliminates the picked symbols from further selection in the game. Eliminating the picked symbols increases the probabilities associated with the unpicked symbols for future picks based on the probabilities associated with the picked symbols. The player continues to pick selections until there are no picks remaining in the game.

摘要: Methods, apparatus and computer program products reduce bandwidth requirements in mobile video and gaming applications by tracking a gaze fixation point of a user on a video image at a remote location; generating information identifying the gaze fixation point at the remote location; transmitting the gaze fixation point information to a source of video information over a network; determining a portion of a video image to transmit at a high resolution and a remaining portion to transmit at a low resolution using the transmitted gaze fixation point information; and transmitting the portion of the video image selected for transmission at a high resolution at the high resolution and the portion of the video image selected for transmission at a low resolution at the low resolution. Further methods, apparatus and computer program product also reduce bandwidth requirements by receiving gaze fixation point information from a remote location, wherein the gaze fixation point information indicates where in a video image a user is currently looking; selecting a portion of video images to transmit at a high resolution and a portion of video images to transmit at a low resolution using the transmitted gaze fixation point information; and transmitting the portions of the video images at the determined resolutions.

At this time, a game processor included in the game machine calculates a predicted return position of a ball returned by the opposite player, compares a current position of the ball striking player with the predicted return position, and judges whether the predicted return position is within a ball strikable range for the ball striking player. If a judgment means judges that the predicted return position is out of the ball strikable range, a ball striking position movement means, i.e. the game processor moves the ball striking position.

The rerun is not simply a replaying of the game, but changes the game to keep the game fresh. However, because substantial portions of the software and data content that implement the game is re-used, a limited set of software and data content can be used for many reruns. Thus, the cost of providing fresh games is kept low.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for interfacing with a user at a casino gaming machine are disclosed. An input control panel with a plurality dynamic buttons is provided. The dynamic buttons may be activated by a player to select games, make wagers, make gaming decisions, etc. Each dynamic button may include a display area (e.g., an LCD), a transparent tactile feedback portion (e.g., a pliable polyurethane membrane), and an input detection portion (e.g., a transparent touch screen). A dynamic button may be depressed to make an input selection and may include a display area which is visible through the button. During operation of a dynamic button, the controller may send image data for display on the button and receive input signals from the input detection portion of the button when a user depresses the button.
