    摘要: A multi-conductor lead body having improved mechanical characteristics and improved manufacturability is disclosed. The lead body includes multiple conductors wound around a generally cylindrical or tubular, insulative core member. Ones of the conductors are spaced from other ones of the conductors by means of insulative strands or tubes wound around the core intermediate the conductors. The conductors may be stranded or cabled conductors. The core may be an insulative cylindrical or tubular member having a centrally located tensile reinforcement member, or may take the form of an insulated coiled conductor, allowing the use of a centrally located stylet to place the lead. Preferably, conductors and insulative strands or tubes separating the conductors are sized relative to the core member such that a gap is allowed between the conductors and associated insulative strands or tubes. In one embodiment, at least one of the conductors may be electrically and mechanically coupled to one or more electrodes such as a defibrillation electrodes. The electrodes may each be may be positioned along a respective portion of the outer surface of the conductor. Openings fashioned in the jacket of the lead body expose the electrodes so that the outer surface of the electrodes is substantially adjacent to the outer surface of the lead body, thus providing a lead body having minimal dimensions.

The device includes an impedance measurement circuit that generates a template representing the impedance measured using the lead over a cardiac cycle of the patient's heart. The impedance measurement circuit generates subsequent impedance measurement signals, which are then compared to the template to derive a comparison factor. The comparison factors are stored in a memory and are indicative of lead displacement. A telemetry circuit transmits the comparison factors to a non-implanted receiver for analysis of lead displacement.

    摘要: An electrical stimulation device method provides for exact repeatable positioning of stimulation pads onto a body part. The device includes a flexible member for contacting a body part and hook/loop members for tightly supporting the flexible member against the body part. At least one electrical bus is provided which may include a connector for enabling connection of the bus to an electrical lead wire and an electrical contact disposed on the inside of the flexible member. A conductive pad is provided which has dimensions substantially smaller than the dimensions of the flexible member and includes a cover adhesive layer for removably adhering the conductive pad to the flexible member inside with a first side of the cover layer covering the bus contact and an electrical communication therewith. A current controlling media is adhered to a second side of the cover layer and a base layer disposed on the current controlling media is provided for removably adhering the conductive pad to the body part.

The electrode is formed from elastomeric material and can be optionally formed into a loop for use around penile or scrotal tissue and against vaginal or anal issue. In addition, two embodiments include a penile sheath for secure placement and retention of the electrode on the penis. An electrical contact at one end of the electrode allows the electrode to be connected to an electrical source.

    摘要: An electrode assembly for a body implantable lead comprises a longitudinally extending dispenser housing having an internal cavity with opposed longitudinally extending openings for storing a drug to be dispensed. A tip electrode integral and axially aligned with the dispenser housing has a face adapted for positioning adjacent the desired body site, a transverse channel formed into and transversely across its face, and an orifice extending between the channel and the internal cavity for elution of the drug to the desired body site. A weld sleeve integral and axially aligned with the dispenser housing distant from the tip electrode has an outer peripheral surface for engageably receiving one end of an elongated electrical conductor, and a collar spaced from the dispenser housing. The electrical conductor is welded to the collar to obtain a welded connection for electrical continuity between the tip electrode and the electrical conductor. An insulative sheath of resilient material is fittingly received on the outer peripheral surface of the dispenser housing overlying the longitudinally extending openings and the welded connection between the electrical conductor and the weld sleeve. Insulative tubing is received on the coiled conductor includes a skirt member distant from the tip electrode and coaxial with the insulative tubing and biased radially into engagement with the outer peripheral surface of the insulative tubing. A plurality of fixation tines are integral with, and extend radially outwardly from, the insulative sheath at a plurality of circumferentially spaced locations.
