摘要: Provided here are methods of using a mutated patatin-like phospholipase IIα (“pPLAIIα,” renamed here MATRILINEAL) to induce haploid induction in plants, cloning a pPLAIIα to induce haploid induction in plants, and genetically engineering a plant to contain a mutated pPLAIIα. Also provided are methods of applying topical and spray chemicals, lipids, and RNAi molecules to plants during pollination in order to induce haploid production. Further provided are methods of chemically treating plants during pollination to induce haploids while also reducing embryo abortion and increasing seed set.

The system comprises: at least one small object cassette having a plurality of small object cells; an automated conveyor system for transporting the cassette(s) from a loading location to a unloading location on the conveyor system; at least one cassette filling station disposed over the conveyor system such that the conveyor system extends under a small object distribution subsystem of each respective cassette filling station; and a computer based central control system structured and operable to control various operations of the conveyor system and each cassette filling station.

摘要: Methods for conveying soybean rust (SBR) resistance into non-resistant soybean germplasm are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include introgressing SBR resistance into a non-resistant soybean using one or more nucleic acid markers for marker-assisted breeding among soybean lines to be used in a soybean breeding program, wherein the markers are linked to and/or associated with SBR resistance. Also provided are single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with resistance to SBR; soybean plants, seeds, and tissue cultures produced by any of the disclosed methods; seed produced by the disclosed soybean plants; and compositions including amplification primer pairs capable of initiating DNA polymerization by a DNA polymerase on soybean nucleic acid templates to generate soybean marker amplicons.

摘要: The invention provides processes for marker assisted selection of common beans expressing volatile compounds that provide flavor traits associated with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and/or sequences flanking SNPs, as well as allele-specific oligo sequence primers configured to anneal to related SNPs and to report the presence or absence of SNPs with fluorescent signals using a PCR assay, a KASP assay (i.e., modified PCR assay), or other molecular marker assay, e.g., SSR, capable of identifying the presence or absence of SNPs and/or portions of flanking sequences of the SNPs, all of which enhances selection efficiency in common bean breeding strategies.
