A sear trip bar for use in an automatic firearm is disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the sear trip bar can be operatively interfaced with the bolt carrier and the automatic sear of the host firearm. The disclosed sear trip bar can be configured such that, upon sufficient displacement thereof (e.g., exhaustion of its stroke length) by the bolt carrier, the automatic sear may be caused to trip. Thus, the disclosed sear trip bar can be utilized, for example, to transfer the force of the moving bolt carrier during a given firing cycle to automatically trip the sear so as to initiate one or more subsequent firing cycles without having to release and again operate the trigger of the host firearm. The disclosed sear trip bar can be utilized, for example, in pistol-caliber and/or rifle-caliber automatic firearms.

As the trigger is moved, a linkage connecting the trigger and sear causes the sear to pivot rearward such that the roller engages a notched surface formed in the hammer. This rolling action releases the hammer to strike a firing pin to fire a round of ammunition. When the trigger is released, the sear roller rolls downward into an engaged and locked position within the notch formed in the hammer.

To resolve the present problem of the excessive length of the work travel of the firing device trigger, with large frictional surface resistance between the blocking iron and the track, thus directly affecting the precision of firing. It is characterized in that it has a rotating blocking iron, which is fixed to the firing mount by the rotating blocking iron shaft; the rotating blocking iron shaft, the rotating blocking iron shaft hole and the hole in the frame for the rotating blocking iron shaft together forming a rotating assembly. This converts the translational friction of the original blocking iron on the track into rotational friction, the linear translational motion of the original blocking iron becoming the eccentric rotational motion of the rotating blocking iron, reducing the length of travel of the trigger from 6.about.7 mm to 2.about.2.5 mm, reducing frictional resistance and making it easy to operate during firing, thus creating the conditions for improvement in and guarantee of precision in firing.

Inserted into the receiving chamber of the lock (i.e., trigger, sear and hammer) of a trap type shotgun is an elongated U-shape housing having on the forward end a spring supported loading platform adapted to receive and temporarily carry a shotgun shell inserted through the uncovered ejection port when the breech bolt is retracted rearwardly into open position. Rearward movement of the bolt is simultaneously effective to engage and depress a spring-biased hammer pivotally mounted on the housing, the hammer including a notch for engagement with the latch hook of a sear rockably mounted on the housing. A spring-urged trigger has a portion overlying a flange on the sear so that actuation of the trigger moves the sear latch hook out of engagement with the hammer, thereby allowing the hammer to spring forwardly and strike the firing pin. A safety lever positively immobilizes the trigger in open bolt position and, for automatic shotguns, a bolt detent structure holds the bolt open after each shot until a shell is inserted and a separate trip lever is actuated so as to allow the bolt to close.
