    摘要： Apparatus and process for thermal treatment of thermoplastic polymer multifile filaments embodying at least one stuffing chamber for forming at least one multifile filament into at least one tightly coherently packed filamentary body, feeding one or more of said filamentary bodies onto gas-permeable, slowly rotating drum on which it or they are conveyed in a side-by-side, spiral orientation by the rotating drum while a fluid, e.g., air is drawn through the filamentary bodies, said filamentary bodies being conveyed from the stuffing chamber at a constant rate and being deflected at a predetermined pitch angle before or during initial contact with the drum surface.

    摘要： A non-twisted, heather yarn is formed of a plurality of major yarn bundles at least one of which is of a substantially different color from the remaining bundles. Each major yarn bundle is formed of a multiplicity of continuous filaments and has from about 10 to about 90 percent of its filaments cohering to form secondary bundles with the remaining filaments of each major bundle varying in number along the length of the yarn, being interlaced with other major bundles of the yarn, and being randomly located about the yarn axis. Each of the secondary bundles in each unit length of the yarn of about 6 inches has a portion thereof formed of greater than about 30 percent of the filaments of its major bundle and each of the secondary bundles in each unit length of yarn of about 8 inches is non-uniformly, differently oriented relative to the yarn axis.

    摘要： In combination, a drawing apparatus and a crimping apparatus. The drawing apparatus comprises integral first and second draw rolls, with attendant separator rolls, and a draw pin. The final draw roll is fluted around its peripheral surface. The draw rolls are driven from the same source as the crimp feed rolls, and in order to control yarn tension at the crimp feed rolls a variable drive means is provided for the draw rolls, to alter their speed with regard to the speed of the feed rolls. A yarn heater is positioned between the final draw roll and the crimp feed rolls, or in the alternative, between the final draw roll and its separator roll.

    摘要： A method for producing a yarn having latent bulking characteristics and the apparatus therefor is described. The yarn is composed of multifilament synthetic fibers which have been crimped and subjected to a constant tensioning process. The process involves subjecting a drawn yarn, preferably freshly drawn, to a crimping process which can be any of a number of crimping methods including stuffer box crimping, gear crimping, steam jet crimping and the like. The yarn is withdrawn from the crimping step under a low, substantially uniform tension, tensioning the yarn under a higher constant tension to at least partially extend the crimps, entangling or twisting the yarn and taking the yarn up on a package. The bulk characteristics of the yarn are preferably developed after incorporation into the end product such as a carpet by subjecting to heat and moisture.
