A process is provided for producing a pressure-sensitive carbonless transfer or record sheet comprising the steps of preparing a liquid chromogenic coating composition by mixing chromogenic material with a liquid radiation curable substance, the chromogenic material comprising either an acidic color developer of the electron donator type or a color precursor of the electron accepting type. The liquid coating composition is coated onto a web or substrate at a coat weight of from about 0.2 pounds to about 8.0 pounds per 3300 square feet of substrate. The coated web is then exposed to radiation for a time sufficient to cure the liquid coating composition to a tack-free film. A novel liquid chromogenic coating composition is produced, the coating composition comprising a chromogenic material and a radiation curable substance. A pressure-sensitive copy sheet is produced, the copy sheet comprising a substrate having a plurality of surfaces at least one of the surfaces being coated with a tack-free film, the film comprising a radiation cured resin containing a chromogenic material dispersed.

A method of printing and assembling carbonless, multi-sheet business forms from a plurality of cut sheets is disclosed which includes the steps of, for each form: a) applying a heat and/or pressure sensitive adhesive strip to a lower surface of a first sheet and an upper surface of a second sheet, the adhesive strips on the first and second sheets being in substantial vertical alignment when the first and second sheets are in overlying relationship; b) providing at least one intermediate sheet, the intermediate sheet having a plurality of apertures therein; c) passing the first, second and intermediate sheet through a non-impact printer; d) collating the first, second and intermediate sheet in overlying relationship so as to provide an individual collated form with the adhesive strips and plurality of apertures in alignment; and e) passing the collated form through a heat and/or pressure sealing device to thereby activate the heat and/or pressure sensitive adhesive strips by mutual contact through the plurality of apertures. Multi-part carbonless business form sets collated from cut sheets following the above described process are also enclosed in two, three, four and five part form assemblies.

A thermally imagable business record such as a form, tag, label or the like is provided in which selected areas of the record may be activated to form an image upon exposure to heat. In one embodiment, at least one selected area of a substrate surface contains a thermally imagable coating of initially colorless color formers and color developers while the remaining areas of the substrate are left uncoated. The substrate may be pre-coated to provide a smooth, non-porous base coat for the thermally imagable coating, and may also include a protective coating layer to protect the subsequently printed thermal image.

The invention relates to a multiple part recipe card kit and method of construction and use of duplicate recipe cards. The recipe card kit includes a plurality of superimposed, coextensive, carbonless recording sheets in combination with a plurality of water-resistent, transparent laminae corresponding to the number of the recording sheets. Each of the recording sheets has a face. The recording sheets have a common joined border and are separable from one another proximate the common joined border. The recording sheets contain pressure-sensitive image-transferring chemicals which allow the recording sheets to receive recorded information simultaneously upon each face when the information is inscribed on the face of the top sheet. Each of the laminae are of sufficient size to completely overlie the corresponding recording sheets. Each of the laminae has a first side. Each first side of the laminae has transparent pressure-sensitive adhesive applied to at least a portion thereof. A removable release liner is releasably adhered to each pressure-sensitive adhesive and coextensively covers each transparent lamina.

This invention pertains to a carbonless copying system for making multiple copies of a message, comprising a plurality of carbonless paper sheets of which each sheet of carbonless paper comprises a region of removable, repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive on the back surface of the sheet. The method for manufacturing the removable and repositionable pressure sensitive carbonless copying system and their use for making multiple copies of a message are also described.
