Abstract:
In an embodiment of the present invention, a squeegee blade holder is provided. The holder includes a first side member, a second side member, and a pivot portion between the first and second side members. The holder also includes a separator between the first and second side members for maintaining compression of the side members against the squeegee blade. In another embodiment of the present invention, a method of holding a squeegee blade in a holder is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a first holder side, and providing a second holder side. The method further includes compressing the first and second holder sides against the squeegee blade, and maintaining compression of the first and second holder sides against the squeegee blade.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for automatically adjusting the contact pressure between an intaglio cylinder and a wiping roller that further limits the amount of defective prints generated. The method adjusts said contact pressure by changing the position of the wiping roller shaft center with respect to the intaglio cylinder shaft center using a contact pressure adjustment motor. At least the position of the wiping roller shaft center at low speed and the position of the wiping roller shaft center during printing operation for which the contact pressures have been optimized during a previous printing are stored. Before starting the current printing operation, the wiping roller is moved to the stored low speed position. Then when the current printing operation is started, the wiping roller is moved to the stored printing operation position.

Abstract:
An improved ink system for a single pan design of a rotogravure printing press includes: the reservoir enclosing a substantial portion of the gravure cylinder; the intake section bottom having a slope at the bottom of the intake section; an intake port through the bottom of the intake section; an outtake port through the bottom of the outtake section; the outtake section bottom having a slope at the bottom of the outtake section sloping toward the outtake port; a dam release lever connected to the gate and extending outside of the reservoir, a plurality of channels through the vortex promoter; a pre-wipe bar located between the doctor blade and the vortex promoter; journal port seals located on each side of the gravure cylinder; and an angled doctor blade holder.
Abstract:
A composite doctor arrangement for a web forming machine or web handling machine has a beam structure (10) with a mounting piece (13) fitted to it. A blade holder (11) is fitted to the mounting piece, with a blade (12) fitted to the blade holder (11). The mounting piece (13) is fitted axially and movably in the beam structure (10) by a form-locked mounting counterpiece (14), where the form locking is arranged so that it is fixed in the lateral direction of the blade (12) and essentially free in the longitudinal direction of the blade (12).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for fixing scraper strips to a printing roller scraper. The inventive device comprises at least one magnetic element (3) which is configured and disposed such as to hold a first face of a longitudinal support portion (1a) of at least one scraper strip (1) in firm contact with a support surface of a body (2) of said scraper (10), a second free longitudinal portion (1b) of said scraper strip (1) occupying a projecting position. Alternatively, the magnetic element (3) is also configured and disposed such as to maintain a hold-down plate (5) in firm contact with a second face of the support portion (1a) of the scraper strip (1), whereby said second face is located opposite the aforementioned first face which is in contact with the body (2). In this way, the support portion (1a) of the scraper strip (1) is trapped between the hold-down plate (5) and the support surface of the body (2).
Abstract:
For use with an ink chamber housing of a printing machine, a combination includes a doctor blade adapted to be secured to the ink chamber housing so as to extend outwardly therefrom, the doctor blade including a doctoring plate having a rear portion to be secured to the ink chamber housing and a front doctoring edge in contact with the outer surface of the roll to meter ink thereto, and a chamber doctor blade shield having one end fixed to the doctor blade in spaced relation from the doctoring edge and a second opposite free end unsecured to the doctoring plate, so as to cover the outer surface of the ink chamber housing to prevent ink from depositing thereon when the combined doctor blade and chamber doctor blade shield is clamped to the chamber housing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an inking blade configuration for an ink feeding device of a rotary press, which includes a carrier beam provided at the ink duct. The inking blade is composed of segments, which are accommodated in a side-by-side configuration on the carrier element and which are adjustable relatively to a roller that dips into the ink duct, and the individual inking blade segments are connected by connecting elements to the carrier element. Provision is made underneath the connecting elements (8) in the contact region (9) of the contact surfaces (11, 12) of segments (2) and of the carrier beam (5) for a form-locking connection (13), which prevents a relative movement between the segments (2) and the carrier beam (5).
Abstract:
A doctor apparatus comprises a base adapted to be fixed to a doctor back and having a shelf projecting forwardly therefrom. A compliant top plate overlies the forwardly projecting shelf. The top plate has a rear portion fixed with respect to the base, and a front portion projecting forwardly beyond the shelf. Mutually spaced blade support members are secured to the underside of the front portion of the top plate. The blade support members have front portions underlying and cooperating in spaced relationship with the underside of the front portion of the top plate to define mutually aligned receiving slots, and have rear portions underlying and cooperating in spaced relationship with the shelf to define mutually aligned recesses. A doctor blade has a rear portion removably retained in the receiving slots, and a front portion projecting forwardly beyond the top plate. A resilient element is confined in the recesses between the shelf and the rear portions of the blade support members.
Abstract:
A doctor blade assembly for holding a doctor blade which wipes excess ink from an etched or engraved ink applicator roll in a printing press enables the blade to be moved to a variety of positions with respect to the roll, imparts a reciprocating motion to the blade, enables skew adjustment of the blade, and clamps the blade in a convenient position to facilitate its replacement.
